I put in a CD that I bought to help me learn a program (it's like a tutorial) and my computer isn't bringing up the E: drive thingy...Anybody know why? If somebody could IM me or even call me to help that'd be great.I have an IBM Thinkpad R40.

Pop it in and out a few times until it works. And clean the CD with a soft cloth, wiping it from the inside of the CD to the outside in a straight line, all the way around until all the crap is off of it.[Edited on February 5, 2006 at 2:33 PM. Reason : or something]

if the drive lists in My Computer and Hardware Manager without the CD in the drive, then the problem lays with the CD and not the drive. like suggested, clean the CD and make sure there are no sever scratches on it.

if cleaning the cd doesn't work, do you know how to unseat and reseat an ultrabay drive? there should be a button (not the eject button) to the bottom left or right of the drive. pressing it will cause a tab to stick out. pull on that tab till the drive comes out, then push the drive and the tab back in. sometimes the drives get loose. doing this might fix it. if you got it at the bookstore, they can reseat it for you really quickly.
