my brother and his GF were standing in line yesterday and all of a sudden saw something jolt out from behind a machine and back. it was a rat. they immediatly told everyone and the whole crew started to look for it. they never found it.dont go there and eat people.
2/5/2006 1:48:49 PM
who eats people anyway?
2/5/2006 2:03:52 PM
they are just rats!
2/5/2006 2:04:14 PM
haha I so beleive that. i used to work for consolidated theatres at the glenwood one when i was like 17. the food prep was very questionable.
2/5/2006 2:04:57 PM
YOU CAN'T MAKE ME NOT EAT THE POPCORN.
2/5/2006 2:16:20 PM
ima use my tub to trap it and keep it as a pet. dead rat, however, is a no-no.
2/5/2006 2:30:13 PM
I heard they eat babies.

I remember when there was a Lil' Caesar's in the Western Blvd. K-Mart. I saw a rat there knock over a bag of shelved Tostito's when I was a kid. I'd be more worried if all the pests who stole food from there died.
2/5/2006 3:17:04 PM
I see rats around campus all the timedoesn't make me stop eating
2/5/2006 3:19:15 PM
But do you see them in the dining hall?
2/5/2006 3:23:08 PM
ill still go there and watch a movie. but i dont think ill eat there. its not like i do or anything, i usually take my own food in there. but sometimes ill get a drink or popcorn for my GF.

Most food service businesses probably have had some pest/rodent control problem at some point in their history. It happens, learn from it, get over it. I'd be a lot more concerned over how many employees wash their hands when they use the restroom.
2/5/2006 5:56:54 PM
What are you watching there
2/5/2006 5:58:26 PM
there are no rats at Galaxy Cinema, despite what you may think of some of the staff.
2/5/2006 6:13:02 PM
i see rats all out side of the atrium and shit. i'm sure they are in there and the library.

i dont wanna even think about what they are cleaning off the floors/seats in the actual theatres before going and making my popcorn.

2/6/2006 1:13:58 PM
I don't eat at movie theatres anyway, too much $texas. I pop my popcorn and bring it with me in my giant granny bag.

^Ask the theatre to see their last health sanitation score. Its a requirement that all NC food establishments post their score in a public, conspicous location. If you speak with management, ask to see the actual score sheet to see what they lost points on.

^ how is the cash they handle in the fucking box office any dirtier than the cash they handle in concession???

"Ask the theatre to see their last health sanitation score. Its a requirement that all NC food establishments post their score in a public, conspicous location. That's only for food prep, and popping popcorn don't count.Unless they've been lying to me for over a year.[Edited on February 6, 2006 at 6:36 PM. Reason : moo]

I have over 4 years of theater experience, so I think I can answer some things here.1st. Popcorn and nachos do not count or need a sanitation grade. Only the hot dogs, pizza, and other such things make a concession stand in need of one. In this case, Crossroads 20 has both, and they do have a sanitation grade, and if I remember correctly is an 'A'.2nd. Already said, at the beginning of each shift, people are assigned their positions for the night. Usually, a person sticks to this and will only do box, usher, or concession and not mix.3rd. Have you ever had a mouse in your house? Does that make your house unsanitary and dirty? It is the same thing. In a big building, it is easy for something to get in.4th. The popcorn on a busy night is "reasonably" fresh. In a theater, popcorn that you are getting may be up to 4 days old. It is popped, stored in bags, and then brought out when needed. On busy nights, a person is generally stuck in the back popping all night.5th. Money is dirty, and the rat was on the floor, not climbing in the food.

Crossroads also has crappy movies coupled with an unenjoyable viewing experience.

Then again, as a theater employee, I try never to touch the popcorn/inside of the buckets with my hands. And for the record, I also wash my hands after using/cleaning the restroom (wiping spills, picking up trash.)

^I figured it applied, as we are discussing Crossroads 20. Owned and operated by Consolidated Theaters that is based in Charlotte.

They are mice NOT rats. I have never seen a rat in the theatre. I know they are both rodents, but there is a difference. There are things being done to help minimize the problem as much as possible. The mice are not swimming in the popcorn and they are not jumping on you during the movie so get over it. There is a sanitation grade up on the wall in concessions and it is an A. You can't honestly think that many (not saying all) of the restaurants you go to don't have to deal with mice. As far as I know they have not killed anyone at the theatre. Although they have become pretty vicious lately......

hahahaha"that girl you're bwning has herpes not aids""that bullet i shot you with was a .22 not a .44""we only dropped an atomic bomb on japan, not a nuclear one""only your mother was killed in that car accident, not your mother AND father"
2/7/2006 3:20:23 PM
it's probably a field mouse.. the theatre is surrounded by woods and fields..
2/7/2006 3:42:24 PM
That rat couldn't be any worse than the ones that dart in & out of bushes in Central Campus and near the dining halls. ALERT: DON'T CONSUME FOOD IN CARROL, METCALF, TUCKER, OWEN, BOWEN, or any campus dining hall... (oh wait, most on campus people would starve.... plus they'd have to leave out atleast 50% the restaurants on Western & Hillsborough, too... mmm... ) jk. rats are gross... especially in a movie theatre (although the spilled popcorn and drink and dark atmosphere makes it all the more probable)
2/7/2006 3:59:19 PM
Everybody poops. Including mice and rats, and they poop/urinate wherever they want to; on the floor, on the counter, in cabinets, in your popcorn box that is stored on shelves, etc. They also carry bacteriaBut it sounds like Crossroads is aware of the problem, and trying to solve it. I agree with Perlith:
