Thinking about going to Toronto pretty soon.

I was just wondering if anyone had any first-hand experiences to share or recommendations about where to stay/what to do and the like.

More specifically, I've been looking at staying at the Clarion Hotel and Suites Selby, as its written on cheaprooms.com, and I was wondering if anyone had any idea what it was like.

Just so everyone knows, I'm going to get a book on the city this weekend, but I'm looking for personal experiences, too, not just what a book would say.

Thanks!

seriously, toronto is the shit. just walk up and down younge street for a few hours and you're bound to find something awsome. i stayed at the marriot (sp?) downtown and it was great. i wish i could move there because it's awsome. also, buy a subway pass for the amount of time you want to stay there, because you have to take the subway everywhere.

I used to live there. Its ok...i would go to the CN tower, its the big space needle next to skydome. They have a glass floor you can walk on at the top which is pretty weird bc you are so high up and a restaurant that rotates around while you eat so you get to see the whole city. Also, you dont have to take the subway everywhere i dont know what that person is talking about, you dont even need a subway pass. It will be cold but you arent an idiot so you probably already know that. If you go a couple of hours outside of the city of toronto there are some good places to ski. They have some good restaurants like planet hollywood and stuff like that too.

This hotel I've been looking at says it's five miles from the Sky Dome (yes I know it's not called the Sky Dome anymore), right in downtown, across the street pretty much from the subway.

Is that an OK part of town to be staying in?

Clarion Hotel and Suites Selby is worth the cheap price if all you're looking for is a place to sleep. It's not a typical hotel, its a really big house / mansion that was converted. The day we left we checked out of our room by 11 and they let us keep our luggage behind the counter until we flew out later in the evening. That allowed us to get an extra day of touring in without carrying luggage. The area is pretty good, me and my wife felt comfortable walking around between the subway and hotel. There is a subway stop right across the street that takes you wherever you want to go. We took it to the train station and caught the train to Niagra Falls.

thats what you get for the cheap price, and that pic is taken from the corner. The entry door is to the right and tv right behind the camera. The room is smaller than most hotel rooms

They love it if you walk up and down the street chanting "Leafs Suck!"

If you can get up to their zoo it's absolutely awesome!

Phantom of the Opera is gone now right? Cause it was the best perfromance of that show in the world at Pantages Theatre.

^ Awesome. I heard about this city pass that gets you into all sorts of places, including the CN Tower, the Royal Onterio Museum, the Toronto Zoo and a bunch of other places, all for $38.

^^ Yeah thanks, cuz I have a death wish.

^^^ What about parking? I read that hotel has limited parking for a fee.

On the website, the fee is $30 per day, in this travel book I have, it's $8 per day.

I know you said you flew in, but did you notice the parking situation at all?
