the idea is that if we get overly combative with them right off the bat, it's a sure thing that the peace process will, at best, stagnate.basically, we're hoping they act right, but not really expecting it, and when they start fucking up, then they can get dealt with.

well, if hamas is now a legitimate government, and they launch attacks on israel...doesnt that basically mean a declaration of war by a sovereign body. i know the intifada has already been a "war" but now they represent the people of a country so doesnt this give israel the right to take the gloves off and seriously fuck them up. i think israel deserves that right. i know many of you hate israel, and im not saying they are total angels in this, i just think that hamas needs to play by the rules and understand the consequences. ^ I'm still hoping the Israeli's will volunteer/surrender/be kidnapped and relocate their entire nation to Wisconsin. It would solve two problems: Wisconsin has a painful shortage of jews, and the jews have a painful overabundance of palestinians.

I bet importing Israel will do wonders for the US GDP-Honestly, its kinda like Nixon opening up China. If there is going to be peace in Israel, Hamas would have to lead it.

I agree whole heartedly with those newspaper editorials. It's something the far right and the left can at least agree on.Extreme Islam is not in line with Western Values.

Tribal sovereignty means that. It's sovereign. You're a. . . you're a. . . you've been given sovereignty and you're viewed as a sovereign entity.

In Islam, any image of Muhammad is strictly forbidden. Its a sacrilege. Rioting in the street and destroying property (in their home nations) is not the solution. Have you also noticed that when the Palestinian factions are fighting themselves, there are far less suicide bombs in Israel?

I don't think that Hamas is gonna get many more chances after calling the recent suicide bombing a "legitimate response to Israeli aggression". And they have unequivocally refused to strike out "the destruction of Isreal" from their charter statement. I also find it interesting how Israel pulls out of Gaza and suffers daily rocket attacks as a result. That doesn't bode well for the 2-state model. If the Palestinians want an all-out war with Israel, they are gonna get wiped off the map very quickly. The Hamas govt has to be accountable for the actions of Palestinian militants, and by condoning actions such as a suicide bombing in a crowded restaraunt, they are sanctioning terrorism. Israel must be allowed to protect it's own people, even if that means further isolating and marginalizing the Palestinians. [Edited on April 20, 2006 at 1:50 AM. Reason : 2]

4/20/2006 7:24:57 AM
Or maybe we could just let the two states duke it out
4/20/2006 10:30:25 AM
^I think thats pretty much the forcast anyway. Isreal is gonna keep on issuing hits on militants among other assignments and Palestinians are gonna keep on bombing Tel Aviv establishments. Since this cycle has been going on for so long nothing short of Lonesnark's idea is gonna slow down it's momentum.
