there's 2:
A commuter airplane starts from an airport and takes the route shown in Figure P3.17. The plane first flies to city A located 175 km away in a direction 30.0° north of east. Next, it flies for 150 km 20.0° west of north to city B. Finally, the plane flies 190 km due west, to city C. Find the location of city C relative to the location of the starting point.
a) distance (km)
b) angle (west of north)

A jet airliner moving initially at 300 mi/h due east enters a region where the wind is blowing at 95 mi/h in a direction 34.5° north of east.
a) What is the new velocity of the aircraft relative to the ground?
b) angle ( north of east)

that's one of the problems i didn't get. i'm gonna work on it tonight, and maybe tomorrow at work.
as for the second, make a right triangle. i assume you've already tried to use the rule of subscripts? (i finished that one, and i threw away my scrap paper for problems i had done).

ok. so i figured them out. except i can't get the angle for that last one. how do i do it? i tried the tan of the two vectors but that wasnt right...
