Participants -Josh Smith-Andre Iguodala-Hakim Warrick-Nate RobinsonI'm rooting for Robinson, plus he is gonna have the crowd on his side with his heightSmith won it last year with that sick behind the back, but Iguodala has got ups tooAlso disappointed Lebron turned it down AGAIN, to instead do the wack-ass skills competition
1/31/2006 4:16:41 PM
Robinson has a ridiculous vertical. Should be interesting to watch.
1/31/2006 4:22:01 PM
Only 4 participants?? That sucks. It would be cool to see Robinson win. Warrick had some sick dunks at Syracuse so he could be the sleeper. They should offer some more incentive to players to compete in this thing. I think you need atleast 8 to have a good competition. Plus it's good if a white guy is there to embarass himself (aka Rex Chapman and Chris Kaman).
1/31/2006 5:01:23 PM
what about chris andersen last year, he missed his first 8 or so attemptstoo bad he got banned[Edited on January 31, 2006 at 5:02 PM. Reason : ]

Spud Webb still pwns all!! NCSU represent.
1/31/2006 5:29:03 PM
i still think lebron could rape this competitionremember that wild one he had last year in a game i can't remember who they were playingbut i just remember seeing his head so fucking above the rimif he doesn't do it SOMETIME in his careerhe is dead to me

1/31/2006 6:04:22 PM
If just one star...One bonafide high flying star...Would enter that competition, all the others would come-a-callin.I think the spirit of competition will be too much for others to ignore (i.e. Kobe, Vince would do it just to knock off the "king" if LeBron ever did it.)Same goes if any one of the others entered.
1/31/2006 6:12:09 PM
lebron ain't got shit on vince. he's good, but vince is king
1/31/2006 6:21:17 PM
I have never seen LeBron do a really artistic dunk, I think he is a phenomonal dunker within the flow of a game, but I wonder how creative or confident in himself doing a 360 between the legs windmill etc.
1/31/2006 6:26:28 PM
kobe will never do a dunk contest...his massive ego would be hurt if he didn't win
1/31/2006 6:30:02 PM
VC had the best single performance of all time. the one where he hung from the rim w/ his arm, just unreal. one day u think he's just shootin around and he's like, "i think im gonna try to hang from the rim with my arm". thats some creativity.all this being said, he's still a tarhole and loves the penis.
1/31/2006 6:31:18 PM
That particular contest was incredible...Vince owned the entire thing.
1/31/2006 6:51:40 PM
^^^ If someone called him out, his massive ego would force him into it.The dunk contest w/ Vince was the best, hands down. And I think LeBron did the dunk between the legs during a game.

1/31/2006 7:14:28 PM
1/31/2006 7:35:58 PM
can't forget when Carter had to leave the game for a while for hitting his head on the backboard
1/31/2006 7:38:59 PM
Real Talk...Lebron wouldn't win the dunk contest. Don't get me wrong he does get high, but all of his dunks are the same. I don't think he would be able to compete with Vince, Kobe, Richardson, or either of the Smith boys. If you remember the McDonald's All American Dunk Contest Lebron won cuz he was Lebron and the rest couldn't make the dunks when they counted. He just did practically the same dunk each round. I can't see him being creative either. But he might surprise me one day...
1/31/2006 7:40:56 PM
^took the words directly out of my mouth. that dunk contest was stupid.
1/31/2006 7:52:31 PM
see that's the thingi remember that McDonalds contest tooand i was gonna bring it upbut i think that's the thing with lebronhe makes like he can't do some fly shit, and then all of a sudden he comes with a dunk like abovetrust meif he got in onethe show would be on

I don't know if any dunk contest will top the Jordan/ Dominique battles or the Vince Domination. The bad thing about it there were great dunkers with Vince. Steve Francis, McGrady, Ricky Davis, Stackhouse...(Larry Hughes Embarassed himself that year though).
1/31/2006 8:14:47 PM
iggy wins easily. warrick? robison? smith? great dunkers? psh. iguodala could possibly compete with the best.
1/31/2006 8:18:49 PM
I think SMith will win. A.I. #2 will come in second
1/31/2006 8:20:57 PM
1/31/2006 8:23:29 PM
I think Ill skip this. Im kinda looking forward to the skills competition which Lebron is in.
1/31/2006 8:26:47 PM
i'm definitely not discounting iguodala's chanceswait, is iggy really is knickname?anywayhe's done some sick in-game shit this yeari think warrick is the definite underdog
1/31/2006 8:52:35 PM
amare and josh smith both did some hot shit this yearvince and the 80's get rep based on name more than anything. they were spectacular but only a little moreso than some other contests where no-names won
1/31/2006 9:59:12 PM
he had some sick ones a few years back

fred jones won last year, why the fuck isnt he in itthey should make people put money into it, for charityhave like a trophybetter yet, a championship belt....that changes hands every year. only way a champ cant compete is if he's injured/artest'edand bring it back to 8 players/3 roundssomething to throw some life back into it
2/1/2006 12:22:25 AM
Actually I think the NBA has instituted a policy that the players in the dunk contest have to be third year players or younger. Its a way to expose new talent. So I dont think Lebron is technically eligible anymore after this year, but Im fairly certain theyd lift that policy for him...

2/1/2006 12:28:01 AM
^^^I like thatThey say the dunk contest is dead, but I disagree. They just dont get anybody in it. Imagine if they got Kobe, Lebron, D-Wade, and a few of the mad athletic kids like Nate Robinson. Everyone would watch that shit. I dont care if the dunks are the same every year. If it was with the games most exciting players, the dunks would get better eventually just so players could out-do the best of the best.[Edited on February 1, 2006 at 12:30 AM. Reason : ]

the winner gets $35,000so it's not that much incentiveWilbon said the dunk contest was dead and they needed to get rid of itand mentioned the need of a USA vs. the World All-Star Game instead of East vs. Westwhich is a horrible idea, but that's another threadI still look forward to this more than the game itselfoh and building on what rally saidit's called the Sprite RISING STARS Slam Dunk Contest nowbut even if Lebron knew that, he should have done it before he was ineligible
2/1/2006 12:46:48 AM
all things aside though, thats not a bad crowd, all of em have the potential to make an interesting contesthttp://www.goppo.com/nba/[Edited on February 1, 2006 at 8:28 AM. Reason : .]

i make it a point every year to watch the dunk contest regardless of whos in it. its always entertaining and fun to watch. you're garunteed at least once to see something u never saw before.as far as this year, although josh smith was incredible last year, i gotta go w/ my boy 'dre (or IGGY as he is referred to from time to time) to bring the title to philadelphia. and if K-squared is gonna be in the 3-pt. shootout again, philly just might take both crowns.
2/1/2006 12:11:24 PM
K^2 opted out of the 3-point contest
2/1/2006 12:15:58 PM
damn
2/1/2006 12:36:48 PM
I may turn this on[Edited on February 1, 2006 at 2:36 PM. Reason : thats more than i have done for the dunk contest in the last few years]

Attn: everybody complaining about the participantsI hear you...I'd love to see Lebron and Vince and all them...but last year's contest was off the chain...from Nash's soccer alley oop to Amare, or all of Josh Smith's dunks...just give it a chance you racists
2/18/2006 1:50:54 PM
7pm, tnt, best dunk of all time. should be a good show, an hour of the best dunks ever.

bounce to himself, catch in the air, between his legs, over his headTHE best dunk contest dunk ever[Edited on February 18, 2006 at 2:13 PM. Reason : .]
2/18/2006 2:13:43 PM
One of the coolest dunks Ive ever seen was done by Darvin Ham.I cant even explain it... he like pinned the ball against the backboard, completely stopped... then spun in mid-air and dunked it...the judges gave him like a 35... i coudlnt believe it... If the judges had rightfully given it a 50, you woulda seen this dunk 100 times by now...it's jsut cause he was a no-name so he got no love...
2/18/2006 2:27:40 PM
i remember that shit
