I have some seat brackets for my new seats that i think could use two things.1) somehow lower its height in the rear. i guess cut off the mounting tab and raise it..2) reinforce it. it has a couple 90deg bends that i think could use like a triangle support welded in themany takers?

looks like that, except on my bracket (that is some random pic) the front and rear "legs" look like the rears on that. so its like:_|------|_ shaped from a side view. it kinda rocks around so i think some reinforcement might be nice.[Edited on January 31, 2006 at 11:17 AM. Reason : adfdf]

no hurries. the seats are installed and are working fine now. i just like to improve what can be improved if i can. hai think the triangle braces would be easy, eh? what do you think about somehow lowering the height in the rear like 3/8". i have to see what kinda clearance is under it first. but the lower the better. i have a bunch of washers under the front now to sort of tilt it back. but if i could just lower the rear and have the front w/o washers thatd be nice. or even nicer would be to lower the front a bit and the back a lot. i need to learn how to weld...

can you not just bolt the stock sliders onto the new seats and forget the crappy universal brackets?

Jeepman or I could use my mig to get it done. let me know if you still need it or are just going to wait for Grapehead. I am sure he can weld better, not that mine wouldn't do the job, but I am just imagining that if he can Tig then he is better then me. let me know

of course my welds are superior to yours hahahaj/k seat frames are usually like 1/8" material and im thinking a tig would give you a much stronger neater weld than a mig. its how id do it if it were on my car.

hey everyone looooooky at mr grapehead, rubbing it in that he can TIG damnit i wish i could

Once upon a time I tried to TIG... went terrible. I later found out I was using the wrong gas and there was pretty much no way it was going to work lol. Ah well, with the right gas it isn't TOO terrible to do semi-succesfully--doing it pretty on the other hand takes some practice[Edited on January 31, 2006 at 2:06 PM. Reason : a]

TIG would be stronger, but a MIG would definitely provide more than enough strength. will be a little neater, but with a grinder you can make any weld non existent.if none of these fools get to it, i can MIG it.

TIG? plz. MIG is where it's at. that miller 175, bigblue knows where it's at [Edited on January 31, 2006 at 5:24 PM. Reason : i wish i could TIG ]

ship it to me and ill tig that bitch for ya
1/31/2006 5:56:02 PM
A Tig or mig is only as good as the person using it. And you miggers aint doin nuttin without gas
1/31/2006 6:42:06 PM
^Don't matter if you are a tigger or a migger, you nigger.
1/31/2006 6:52:21 PM
I could stick weld that bitch
1/31/2006 7:04:26 PM

flux core would work fine. it burns hotter than w/ gas, does it not? me and southern4x4 fabbed up some front fenders for his yj tonite w/ flux core and it worked very well [Edited on January 31, 2006 at 7:56 PM. Reason : .]
1/31/2006 7:56:01 PM
might have worked well but flux core will look like ass. hook up the gas nig
1/31/2006 8:20:39 PM
don't have the gas yet. i've got it lookin decent, long as you prep well. and we ground down the welds on the fenders.
1/31/2006 8:38:58 PM
