Don't know what the final vote is yet, but 60 Senators have voted to break the sillybuster on the nomination of Justice Alito. There is no joy in Davos, for mighty Kerry has struck out!

This douchebag is gonna be a lawyer one day.probably planning to print out threads like this to use in his confirmation hearings when someone taps him to be a judge.
1/30/2006 8:14:35 PM
Speaking of which, is he still planning to be in that election?
1/30/2006 8:25:23 PM

Ted Kennedy's such a sillybilly

I am a lawyer already, and still on a high from having won my first high-stakes case! And no, I decided to yield the Republican nomination to Bill Cowsert, the brother-in-law of the sitting state Senator. (It's kind of too bad though, because the Assembly is redistricting the county to make it a solid Republican district.)And I don't think I could be a federal judge. I am way too outspoken in terms of saying what I think regardless of how decorous it is. For example, this would be me: Ted Kennedy: Mr. Jones, I am concerned about some of the things in your past. Me: Excuse me, my lips are kind of dry, does anyone have any Chappaquiddick.. I mean, ChapStick?[Edited on January 30, 2006 at 10:02 PM. Reason : add]

Wow, "sillybuster".There's that famous Republican skill for renaming things.
1/31/2006 2:12:26 AM
It's amazing how similarly the Republican chest-thumping over this filibuster defeat compares with the Democratic chest-thumping over the governship victories in VA & NJ.[Edited on January 31, 2006 at 2:30 AM. Reason : ...]

I loved that through the crotch shot in the first or second issue.btw, Alito ended up with more no votes than all but one confirmed Supreme Court justice in American history.
1/31/2006 4:16:17 PM
Obviously a mainstream kinda guy.
1/31/2006 4:17:11 PM
and the one Justice who was confirmed with the most no-votes had a little scandal swirling around at the time...
1/31/2006 4:50:12 PM
Scalia, however, was universally confirmed... weird...
