I've had cars that never needed a new muffler and then I have this car that seems to eat through them at a rate of one per 3 years. What gives?

if you don't drive it very far every day, the condensation never dries out of the muffler and rusts it out.

I drive it 35 miles twice a day. How far is enough?

where did you get the new muffler?

I can't remember now. It's been a few years so now it is time to buy a new one (it will be my third since I've owned the car). Maybe I'm always buying the el cheapo muffler because I'm pretty sure I didn't get the last two at the same place.

you know what they say, buy crap and buy it twice. or in this case three times

Ok, that is probably it. I don't remember even hearing there was an option between muffler brand 'x' and muffler brand 'y' at the time of purchase. It was just "this is how much we charged for a new muffler".Might do it myself this time around. Putting a new muffler on couldn't be that hard of a thing.
