Granted, my gf is only looking for double ear-piercings, but I still don't trust those crappy ass trinket shops at the mall.

definitely don't go to claires/piercing pagoda/etc. maybe it's just me, and i'm cursed to have bad luck w/everything i do, but i went to one of those last year and got 2 holes in both ears (don't ask me why i couldn't be patient and do one set at a time). anyway, they got infected, and part of it was b/c they put the stud on too tight, along with some other shit.

anyway, i went to warlocks, the chick there changed em for me to rings, gave me some of the spray salt, and they healed right up. it ended up being pricey, in total, for me b/c i had to buy the rings at warlocks plus the ones from piercing pagoda.

i liked and trusted the girl at warlocks, but i've heard different stuff from different people about piercers around here.

Hah... Well I've been told not to go to Super-Walmart in Winston-Salem to have it done... but I was stupid when I was in HS and my ears were already pierced so I added second holes and a hole @ the top (@ diff. times) by the people @ Wally World... w/ the plastic gun thing.... I heard that you weren't supposed to do that (use a gun) but I seriously never had any problems - I just used the formula that they gave me and kept my stuff clean and everything is good to go. Never had an infection or anything but I probably would recommend another place due to response from everyone who I've talked to.

buy some cheap piercing needles online... less than a dollar a piece and do it yourself - its really not that hard, and your ears are the easiest place to pierce

As long as you're just piercing your ears and it's not a cartiledge piercing, I would just do it myself. I did all of my ear piercing other than my orginal holes done back in 1st grade. It's really easy, painless, and inexpensive. However, I do not recommend doing your own cartiledge piercing, simply because I had problems during the healing process when I did it myself.

Blue flame comes highly recommended. I just got another set there about a month ago, and they are who i went to when a piercing i got at some random place got infected. They are the wins.

yeah if you go to blue flame you're talking $40 probably.. they are overpriced.. especially with body piercings... i went to get my tongue stretched because i had already had it done, it had healed up a bit, and the piercer was going to charge $50...

I've got both of my peircings from Blue Flame, one of them was last week. The guy there, Jason, is great. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for I suppose.

Ok, yes, blueflame is pricy. But piercing pagoda is such a sketchy bet. Yes it's cheaper but a trip to doc + antibiotics (if it's bad enough) + going somewhere good to get a ring instead of a stud to allow it to heal properly = more than the cost of going to blue flame to begin with.
