so my digital camera takes a little swim, completely submersed < 2 seconds

is it completely ruined or is there any hope that will it work again?

How long ago was it? You might have fried the computer chip in which case there's the possibility of drying out the circuits (open the camera out, so you can see its guts, put it in front of a fan and leave it there for a while) but you might just need to take it back.

it was several weeks ago, right before christmas. its been sitting on my desk since then
