skip prosser isn't a bad coachhe's not an acc caliber coach though[Edited on January 21, 2006 at 3:20 PM. Reason : and i'd think wake could offer more $ than usc]
1/21/2006 3:18:57 PM
he got fired because he coudlnt do anything with the program.
1/21/2006 3:20:45 PM
He hit his ceiling.
1/21/2006 3:21:29 PM
ahahahathat can't be the case
1/21/2006 3:21:37 PM
he wanted to play 2nd fiddle to football in order to take attention off the fact that he's an NIT coach w/o Childress and Duncan.
1/21/2006 3:24:30 PM
and rogersand RUSTY LA MOTHERFUCKING RUE
1/21/2006 3:25:41 PM
he didn't get fired, but I think there was pressure among the deamon deacons to get him out of the seat. He left for SC on his own, technically.[Edited on January 21, 2006 at 3:28 PM. Reason : since when did i become dave odom?]
1/21/2006 3:25:50 PM
i thought thisi was about the high school kid[Edited on January 21, 2006 at 3:32 PM. Reason : but thats greg oden]
1/21/2006 3:26:15 PM
on that note, the ohio state university is gonna be nasty next year
1/21/2006 3:27:01 PM
He didn't get fired. His contract wasn't renewed....so basically he got fired. He actually was offered an extension the year before his contract ran out....but the dumbass thought he could get a better deal, so he waited it out and then proceeded to get ass-raped by Butler in the first round of the NCAA tourney. Then it was bye-bye Dave.

no waysendek is there, so is hewitthaith, greenberg, and hamilton are definitely on the cusp of being first rate coaches
1/21/2006 3:42:50 PM
Prosser is gone after this season anyway. Write it down.
1/21/2006 3:44:11 PM
he couldn't win the national title with Tim Duncan
1/21/2006 3:55:44 PM
1/21/2006 10:08:09 PM
He liked cocks more than deacons.
1/22/2006 1:48:47 PM
As others stated, a lack of support from the Wake administration basically led him to seek other employment.Odom had an eye for talent and he liked to play a slower paced and grind it out kind of game. He actually grew up a State fan and we were interested in hiring him after Les Robinson stepped down but the ACC office nixed that from happening.
1/22/2006 2:07:43 PM
If I was Odom, I woulda been all, "Tim, can I come with you to the pros? Please, Mr. Duncan, don't leave me here! Take me with you. I'll be good! HELP ME! PLEASE!"
1/22/2006 2:12:56 PM
It's funny that people didn't support Odom. He was by far Wake's most successful coach I believe. I know he's like (Or was at the time) 8th in all time ACC wins.
1/22/2006 2:33:45 PM
Not only that, I don't think that program was that great when he took over. While it might not have been a situation like Sendek's taking over a bottom dweller program that also having to erase an image NCAA violations, I don't think Wake was above being a bottom dweller at the time.
1/22/2006 2:36:18 PM
I read somewhere that in Wake's history prior to Odom, they had been to the NCAA's like 8 times in the school's history. Odom went to 8 in his first 11 years or so. They may not have been as bad as NC State when he took over... but they weren't good either
1/22/2006 2:40:55 PM
Wake was pretty decent in the 70s, pretty much sucked through the 80s, and Odom brough them back to above average in the 90s.I don't know how I would have felt with Odom. He had Duncan...but they still never got to the Final Four with him. They had other runs too. He also had the disadvantage of going up against K and Dean during his career. I would have at least been getting frustrated. It did seem like he was hitting hit wall.BTW...anyone remember CC (or was it Ish's) "three" that sent the game into Overtime at Wake which we eventually one?? (half of our guy's foot was all over the line)
1/22/2006 3:48:30 PM
He's not a bad coach. He won two acc tournament championships. I hope we are due for one pretty soon. We haven't won one since '87.
1/22/2006 11:16:17 PM
Odom did win a championship last year.NIT, but at least it's something.I tend to think of Odom as a great guy for building a program, but not as the guy you want to spend his career at your school.[Edited on January 22, 2006 at 11:20 PM. Reason : ]
1/22/2006 11:18:27 PM
He won the NIT in 2000 too at wake.
1/22/2006 11:25:11 PM
A lot of people are knocking him because he couldn't win with Duncan. Well, Duncan didn't even pick up a basketball until he was 14. Also, the supporting cast minus Childress wasn't very good. I'm pretty sure Duncan enrolled at Wake when he was almost 17, still 16. So Odom took a kid with less than 3 years of basketball under his belt and he was All ACC I think by his Soph? year and first team all ACC his junior year and a Niasmith runner up to camby his senior year. Odom found a diamond in the rough and it payed off, he deserves credit for that. In fact, I think he had a notably difficult time convincing Duncan to give up swimming for the round ball, bet Duncan is pretty thankful for that. So basically if it weren't for hurricane hugo destroying the pool Duncan used, he likely would have never played basketball.
1/22/2006 11:44:16 PM
so you're saying hurricane hugo should be wake's new coach
1/22/2006 11:47:07 PM
Speaking of Childress.... aha
1/23/2006 12:01:46 AM
Listen Wake pretty much sucked after Duncan left. They missed the tourney a few times.... they were going anywhere it was time for a change. If you dont keep moving forward and your program loses all its momentum, its time for a change.Remember the O'Kelley years? Those were not good times..
1/23/2006 12:28:42 AM
If they want to move forward, they'd better run Prosser's ass out of town.
1/23/2006 12:30:14 AM
or hire a defensive coordinator for basketball
