Do I even want to know what this means?

Or is it just some redneck racist crap with a nicer label?

Shit, I haven't checked this thread in awhile. First and foremost I never stated I was a purist or not. I simply asked a question to receive some imput. If you think the idea is bullshit, then don't simply state it is, but explain why. I just wanted to hear both sides of the argument.

"Still more immigrants from the future arrived at the time border today, some even bringing their entire families. the purplish goo that they have on their bodies when they arrive is an ectoplasmic side effect of the time-travel process. This is all giving scientists a great opportunity to learn even more about American life in the future. Chris Holt joins us now. Chris?"

"Yes, there are incredible things we're learning about Americans in the future, Aaron. Eh it appears that in the future, Americans have evolved into a hairless uniform mix of all races. They are all one color, which is a yellowy light-brownish whitish color. Uh it seems race is no longer an issue in the future, because all ethnicities have mixed into one. Perhaps most interesting is how this has affected their language. The people in the future speak a complete mix of English, Chinese, Turkish and, indeed, all world languages, which sounds something like this: 'grrlatat latlglrl glelgle'. Back to you, Aaron."

If one would prefer to avoid the possible future portrayed in the above referenced South Park episode, would that necessarily make one a "purist"?

I mean, shouldn’t we all view the differences among skin color as something that makes each of us beautiful in our own way? Would it be "PC" for one to express an opinion that it's OK for interracial couples to have children, as long as at least some individuals always have children with someone of the same race?

When I visited Washington DC in middle school, we went to some office of race-relations-something-or-other. I remember learning that it was improper to view America as a "melting pot", and should instead view it as a "mosaic". That made sense to me then, and still does, yet many Americans still seem to embrace the idea of a "melting pot"--which would, at some point in the future, result in one uniform race--which would suck, IMHO.

I don't think there should be any kind of quotas... just let people love who they chose and accept whatever happens long term. I think as long as we live in different places that seperate cultures will be around for better or worse. Everyone speaking one language would make travel a little easier though.

Race is a social construct. Why do we feel the need to maintain that construct?

Just curious, why would that suck?

Salisburyboy would have some quality rantings for this thread...

It is known that the reason humans have different skin colors to begin with has to do with how far away our ancestors were from the equator. Global demographic surveys cross-referenced with NASA satellite UV images of the earth clearly show this. (Well, instances of humans traveling away from "home" and procreating with other societies has made the situation more complex....especially recently.) Skin color is arbitrary, right? So then why would one oppose or advocate skin color diversity?

Myself?

I would rather live in this world

than this one.

wouldn't you?

Do you want the beautiful range of skin color now visible among blacks, whites, asians, latinos, indians, and all others to be reduced to a photo in a history book thousands of years from now? How could one actually be OK with, let alone want, skin color homogenization?

not much of the roygbiv coloration can be found in human skin tones... the range we have isn't that big, so I don't think it would be a big lose to have it blend closer together. its not like equators sun exposure is going away, or humanity could homogenize within your lifetime... so why care who has kids with who, why not just advocate love taking its course, or not advocate any path at all?
