'add' isn't a command on any of the 3 PuTTy session prompts given by ncsu

i need to add cadence or add cadence2003

so then i tried with attach on the EOS session--
[*@engr01ras-linux ~]$ attach cadence2003
cadence2003: Already attached...mapping

i'm confused. i have xwin running and i can open a mozilla window and stuff, just can't figure out how to run cadence, if it's even possible.

You'd probably be better off going through VCL (vcl.ncsu.edu). However, there is no reason that "add" shouldn't work over remote access--"add cadence" works fine over PuTTy for me. What error message are you getting?

use remote-linux.eos.ncsu.edu as the host for cadence.. it seems faster, and I had some missing files errors with two of the other logins..

add cadence works fine for me.. it also might be the computer you're at.. the lab in EB1 has fairly new windows machines, I used one last week to do most of my cadence stuff for ECE 212, just make sure you run xwin..

^^ has VCL been working right for you lately? I can't get it to map to K drive anymore...always gives me some kind of bullshit communication error

If you're running programs over remote access, the speed of the PC you're sitting at is almost inconsequential. Your constraints are server load/speed.

And, if you see issues on a specific machine or in a specific lab that you don't see elsewhere, please send a note to eoshelp... (eoshelp AT ncsu DOT edu)

yeah i went to the lab for the first assignment - just trying not to go every time
which other program - the ones from ncsu are listed on the right of this page:

i just tried that and it gave me the same error message

add: Command not found.

i can't even 'add' - no matter what host i use. and i have xwin running because i can open a remote mozilla window just fine

dFshadow: You can't "add" anything cause your dotfiles are screwed up.
Run /usr/bin/repair_dotfiles.sh
Logout
Log back in
"add" should then work fine

ScHpEnXeL:
Uninstall Wolfcall/OpenAFS/Kerberos for Windows
Download and use WinSCP instead: http://www.eos.ncsu.edu/remoteaccess/winscp.html

Wolfcall is not going to be developed anymore and we are still a couple months out from having a via replacement using newer versions of OpenAFS and KfW.
