I have an old TV I need to throw away. Can I just take it to the dump? or is there a special place I have to take it.

If its really old and not a flat screen its hard to break the screen cause the glass is so thick... i recomend lighting it on fire first.. drinking 3 40s of old english... then goin to town on that bitch with a baseball bat.. preferably 28 oz and up

all CRT's should be disposed of properly. take it to the dump and get it to the right bin. they are full of heavy metals and the like.[Edited on January 18, 2006 at 4:23 AM. Reason : ...]

The top floor of lake park. over the rail (make sure its over a sidewalk for the best effect).
1/18/2006 8:01:55 AM
aside from throwing it off a tall building, or smashing it with a bat, you could be enviromentally safe and take it to the dump way up on capital past 540. They will take it there for free and dispose of it properly. But what's the fun in that?
1/18/2006 8:33:04 AM
if it still works you can try to give it away in the classifieds
1/18/2006 8:49:53 AM
i instantly thought of garbage disposal when i saw this thread and conjured up in my mind an image of a tv swirling around in a sink while being chopped up. good luck with that.

are there any buildings taller than lake park that you coudl get away with trhowing it off of?
1/18/2006 11:23:34 AM
^^^^what's the address of that dump. Yea, I'm trying to be environmentally conscious. I heard city of Raleigh has a service where you leave the TV/Monitor out in the curb, and they'll come pick it up.[Edited on January 18, 2006 at 2:36 PM. Reason : .]

seriouslythrow it in the fucking dumpster your apartment complex hasjesus i dont get how so many posts have been posted when you could be done in about 1 minute of carrying it to your dumpster
1/18/2006 2:39:54 PM
If it works, why not just give it to Goodwill?
1/18/2006 4:41:08 PM
it doesn't work.
1/18/2006 4:57:18 PM
there's ~6 pounds of lead and arsenic in older CRT TV's...please recycle!! You shouldn't have to pay to recycle it. Generally TVs and computers are free for individuals to recycle; businesses are charged a fee.

You can either go to the South Wake Transfer facility east of Apex off of Hwy 55 or to the North Wake landfill on Deponie Dr. off of Durant Road. You just take Crapital Blvd out of town, go past 540, and take a left on Durant at the Hardee's. It's less than a couple of miles down on your right.I just went there about two weeks ago.
