I got a free sub to replace the one I blew out and it has RCA's for the out to speakers but my desk speakers are mini's. I have the sub hooked up but the mono-to-mono/phono-to-phono sheilded plug adapter (that accepts 1/8 mini for a rca phone jack) is not working with my speakers. Any suggestions? When I plug just the desk speaker into the back of the computer it works and the sub works as well. Here are some pictures:Sub with adapters and packaging. The right plug is the input to the computer and the left is the AC adapter. Here are the ends of the desk speakers. Now it's all hooked up but not working. What do I do?[Edited on January 16, 2006 at 9:31 PM. You need a stereo male RCA to female mini adapter. Plug that into the sub, then plug the right speaker's stereo plug into that, and plug the left speaker's mono plug into the the jack on the right speaker that says "out to left speaker".

the right speaker looks like it fits flush in that adapter, i.e. its not a stereo plug and the speakers arent setup like that

The mini has two black stripes on it if that helps....I think I am taking it all the Radio Shack today and just having them figure it out.

^^ A stereo plug would still fit in a mono jack.^ You need these two things:http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2110460&cp=&pg=3&y=7&s=A-StorePrice-RSK&kw=rca+adapter&x=15&numProdsPerPage=20&parentPage=searchandhttp://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102697&cp=&pg=1&y=8&s=A-StorePrice-RSK&kw=coupler&x=17&numProdsPerPage=20&parentPage=search

So I went to radio shack and I had to buy two audio adapters to plug into the RCA adapters....The new adapters accept a 1/8th stereo and fit a 1/8th mono. So I have an RCA to mono and a mono to a stereo. It works now!

If you're using an RCA to mono adapter, then you're probably getting mono sound out of your stereo speakers.
