I'm writing up a cover letter email for a customer service rep position with a company that provides cell phone downloads and other gizmos.

I haven't updated my resume since I got my two latest jobs, and it occurred to me that putting both on there might not be the wisest choice:
- I only officially started one last week, even though I was hired back in early december
- between the two jobs, I'm working 18 - 24 hours a week
Job 1 is an evening job, one or two nights a week.
Job 2 is during the day, and on sundays

I just think that putting the newer job on there might make it seem like I'm trying to make my resume look fuller, and that they might question my availability. This job is 12 hours a week. Since it's a telecommuting position, availability isn't a problem. I just have to tell them I'm not available those two nights (evening shift, 5-9).

So: better to put both jobs on resume, or the longer-standing job, and include the newer job in my cover letter, or not mention it at all? I'm leaning towards not adding job 2, because there aren't really any skills or tasks with that job that are pertinent to the one I am applying for.

You kind of answered it for yourself at the end. Don't include a job that doesn't have any skills/gained experience that will help you at the job you're applying for, especially if it's a parttime job. Definitely include the other one if it does have useful qualities that could help you get this job. Especially since it's on Sundays, which is likely not a day you'd be required to work at this other job.

On the other hand gaps in employment history bring up the question of what were you doing then? Drinking late every night and sleeping all day? Playing video games? I would somehow indicate you were not sitting around with your thumb up your ass all day. If its not pertinent experience, dont emphasize it, but at least put it down somewhere.
