why is it that an offensive linesman cannot even blink without having a flag thrown,i dont see the point
1/15/2006 11:43:11 PM
because blinking would give them an unfair advantage[Edited on January 16, 2006 at 1:52 AM. Reason : I can't spell]

make ANY uncalled penalty subject to review, but keep the number of challenges the same, so the game won't be slowed down any more. pass interference and holding specifically come to mind. probably not feasible, but that blatant PI on carter really pissed me off
1/16/2006 2:18:12 AM
^EXACTLY what I was thinking about in my first post
1/16/2006 2:19:51 AM
The stupidest rule in the NFL is that touchback rule if the ball goes out of the endzone if you drop the ball. Like on the play reviewed today during the Chicago-Carolina game. Chicago RB dives towards the endzone with the ball extended. . . the ball comes loose and goes over the pylon and out of the side of the endzone. Since he didn't have control of the ball, it is not a touchdown. It is a touchback and the other team gets the ball on the 20. It would have happened except for the facemask penalty on Carolina. They need to get rid of this shit for next year.
1/16/2006 2:28:56 AM
what is stupid at all about that?
1/16/2006 2:40:53 AM
oh, spot fouls for pass interference piss me off too. i don't see why that should be any different than any other major penalty. make it 15 yards, not 50
1/16/2006 2:46:19 AM
yall think of stupid rules to change
1/16/2006 2:47:11 AM
because if they didn't interfere, it would probably be a catch and more yards^^[Edited on January 16, 2006 at 2:49 AM. Reason : fsdfsf]
1/16/2006 2:49:03 AM
if you fumble and the ball goes out of bounds you get the ball where you fumbled. so why is it when you fumble and the ball goes out of bounds IN THE ENDZONE its a turnover and basically says the other team has possesion? thats why it doesnt make senseleaping is also stupid. (not all kinds but the kind where you cant land on another player. i understand not being able to jump off a player but how can you not jump onto a player)its like nobody ever thought about rules for time with penalties. if a penalty is commited and the down is replayed the time is lost. also, if a team is running the clock out they can get a holding flag on a run and get the down back, lose the time from the play and the clock continues to run for another playclock. theres a million other situations that can happen with penalties and time thats just retarded.
1/16/2006 2:49:54 AM
because the end zone is special
1/16/2006 2:51:32 AM
1/16/2006 2:55:30 AM
in reality, its the same reason why u cant lose the ball out of the back of your own endzone, resulting in a safetyexcept u dont give up points, u give the ball to the other team
1/16/2006 2:59:00 AM
but thats a backward fumble. backwards fumbles are live. a forward fumble that goes out of bounds goes back to the point of the fumble
1/16/2006 3:04:17 AM
out of the endzone?no it doesnt
1/16/2006 3:05:41 AM
getting an interception and them reviewing it and seeing that you clearly caught it, controlled it while you rolled around, and then knocked it out of your own hand while your knee was on the ground (Polamalu INT)that was some crazy shit
1/16/2006 5:08:22 AM
I'm actually pretty happy with the current set of rules when the refs enforce them(which, of course, is another issue completely).I think that the qb slide rule is weak though. You run. You pay.
1/16/2006 5:14:29 AM
Change the penalty for defensive pass interference to 10 yards and an automatic first down. The rule as it stands creates late game strategies where the ball is thrown 60 yards in hopes that 1) it will be caught and 2) if it isn't at least there is a good change you will get the pass interference call which results in a 60 yard penalty. This wouldn't be so bad if they were a little more consistent with the pass interference call. They should probably make the PI reviewable but I'm sure if they did the coaches would want the refs to review every PI call.
1/16/2006 7:38:49 AM
^ i agree, it should be 10 yards or half the distance to the foul

Why are you down in college when your knee hits, but in the NFL you have to be touched?Should be the same for both...I say you have to be touched. Especially when its wet and slippery.
1/16/2006 11:42:49 AM
i'm becoming less fond of the "breaking the plane" rule for getting in the endzone
1/16/2006 11:45:01 AM
^at least when the players whole body is out of bounds
1/16/2006 11:45:30 AM
^ i doubt if someone falls they're just gonna touch them, they are gonna slam into themwhat i hate is the roughing the passer even if they just get tapped and fall over, thats just stupid
1/16/2006 11:46:17 AM
roughing the kicker calls are much worse than roughing the passer callslike when u roll into one because of your momentum

NFL rules are perfect as they are. College rules should be changed to match.
1/16/2006 11:50:32 AM
The new motto for the NFL should be "No Rules, Just Right"
1/16/2006 11:50:55 AM
i think they should have to count to 5-one thousand before they can blitz the QB
1/16/2006 11:53:06 AM
I like the NFL should adopt the rule that on a first down, the clock stops, I love that rule.
1/16/2006 11:57:01 AM
definitely not. offenses would be invincible
1/16/2006 11:57:35 AM
HOW ABOUT A FUCKING OBVIOUS ONE IN NFLOVERTIME

1/16/2006 12:29:58 PM
the reason nfl has sudden death is so it wont last long. the reason college starts on the 25 is so it wont last long. if you didnt start in field goal range the game could go on forever.
1/16/2006 12:34:27 PM
^ Like I said. I can live with starting on the 25. I wish they'd take it back to the 35 or 40 (Especially in the NFL), but sudden death I'm just not a big fan of. Someone...eventually....will get 15 yards and hit a field goal. At least then you can kind of determine the better team.Basically, the team that wins the toss wins the game. That's not cool[Edited on January 16, 2006 at 12:38 PM. Reason : ]
1/16/2006 12:36:42 PM
^^^ i think the way to solve that is to have a flagrant pass interference and a nice try pass interference with the flagrant one being at the spot of the foul.thats the way it should be.
1/16/2006 2:28:30 PM
fair catch.
1/16/2006 2:32:03 PM
Back in the day, an incomplete pass that landed in the end zone was a touchback.
1/16/2006 3:42:48 PM
thats by far the most ridiculous rule ive heard
