where should i go in Raleigh?
1/13/2006 2:16:45 PM
i don't understand why you'd want that on your arm. what does it mean?
1/13/2006 2:32:03 PM
as long as it's not in color, it should be rather cheap (as in $80 or less). I've heard good things about Warlock's, although I'm not sure how expensive they are for tattoos. I got my bellybutton pierced there and they did it for $48, and that included everything, even the ring.[Edited on January 13, 2006 at 2:35 PM. Reason : asd]

1/13/2006 3:24:25 PM
I would advise not getting this tatoo, even if it is christian heritage stuff. It does look racist. You might get your ass beat by someone who takes a glance at it and doesn't know greek.
1/13/2006 3:33:42 PM
^ Not likely. And more than likely he would get a lot of inquiries about it which is great if he wants a reason to talk to people about religion.

Jesus made it pretty clear in the New Testament that many -- not all -- of the old laws pertaining to physical things done to or put in one's own body. Although He didn't mention tattoos, etc. explicitly, it would seem to fit the trend. And it's funny, Wolfpacker, I was kind of thinking about that one for my arm. If not that, a slavonic or coptic cross.

1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.now is having a tattoo defiling your body, even if it glorifies God? later in corinthians, i think we find an answer:2 Corinthians 3:1 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.now dependent on how literal you take the meaning of "ink," be that on paper or the body, it seems as if it's saying it's unnecessary... but it doesn't say it's desecrating your body.i say go for it. i've struggled with this same thing for a long time and i'm thinking about doing something similar as well.

Go to Tattoo Zoo.
1/13/2006 4:54:17 PM
I'm certain that Jesus is ok with tatoos. He's more concerned with the state of our hearts than appearences."The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7bAlso, we see many places in the Bible where people create monuments to the Lord to remember the great things He has done for them. This is the same thing, except it's on my body.[Edited on January 13, 2006 at 5:49 PM. Reason : ]

I wouldn't consider tattoos as desecrating your body, the temple. I would consider things that harm your body as desecration, such as smoking, drinking excessively, unprotected risky sex, harmful drugs, disfiguration (sp), etc.

It is my understanding that Jews cannot get tattoos if they expect to be buried in a Jewish cemetary.
1/13/2006 9:22:39 PM
plus tattoos are trashing lookinggg jews
1/13/2006 9:46:09 PM
Tatts look like shit, why do people get them, when they don't have to be branded. The idea is fucking retarded to covet some crap on your body as a higher meaning.
1/13/2006 9:57:15 PM
I probably speak for many people that have tattoos in saying that collectively we could give a flying fuck-all what you think. It's just something fun for the owner to do, why place so much importance on it? I don't. It's not all meaningful and shit, at least not for me. It's no different than slapping a sticker on my mirror or car bumper, it just spices shit up. I think it's so funny how anti-tattoo people can get, and almost righteous sounding. just shut the $ up, they are fun to the only person who cares and should care in the first place. nuff said.
