we got a microsoft mn-700 wap router here at the office, 3 laptops that occasionally use it, someone came into our office trying to connect to it, i gave her the password and all and her computer wont make the connection.

she copied the settings exactly off one of the laptops and it still wont work. she thinks mac address filtering is on or something, but going into the setup on the router i can plainly see it is off. what other setting would there be that wouldnt allow her computer to connect?

This world would be soo dull without hearing about people having id-10-T errors. I can't get enough of 'em.

Depends on what you want.

DHCP server allows the client to request an IP address and all the other goodies. Without it she needs to copy all the settings from someone else (not just the wireless settings like SSID and wep key, etc), but needs to choose a unique IP address in the subnet to use. So either she was trying to use an already used address or she only copied the wireless specific settings and her computer was timing out while waiting for her DHCP request to be answered.
