Only way to see if they're legit is after they play Memphis and UF over the next two weeks.
1/11/2006 11:37:52 PM
Oh my... I was going to hold of my praise for the "Pearl of the Hardwood"... but since someone else did it... might as well....
1/11/2006 11:38:31 PM
if by dynasty you mean _____
1/11/2006 11:40:20 PM
they already destroyed @ texas. tenn is good but not great
1/11/2006 11:43:58 PM
Texas looked like crap earlier in the season. Supposedly they're better now, but I haven't had a chance to really watch them lately. So I'm not making a judgement on Tennessee for a couple of weeks.
1/11/2006 11:45:23 PM
lol.. I hope we see them in March.
1/11/2006 11:46:03 PM
^I hope not. Tennessee is a VERY dangerous team. Bruce Pearl is a great coach. They might be the 2nd best team in the weak SEC behind UF.
1/11/2006 11:48:38 PM
haha... and Mike Patrick never uses hyperbole
1/11/2006 11:49:49 PM
Get on the bandwagon now and get some gear to represent come March Madnesshttps://ecommerce.cas.utk.edu/utstore/dept.asp?dept%5Fid=10
1/11/2006 11:50:12 PM
even if a team like texas isnt playing well (and they were horrendous) beating them handedly is still impressive
1/11/2006 11:57:32 PM
this thread is hilariousmaybe see them in march if they can survive THE BRUTAL SEChahahahthe ciaa is a better hoops conference
1/11/2006 11:59:10 PM
i agree. texas is not a cake team by any standard.

Granted, the SEC is no ACC but the conference isn't terrible. I bet 4 or 5 teams get in the tournament this year.
1/12/2006 12:12:14 AM
at least...
1/12/2006 12:13:18 AM
lets look at what we have hereflorida - very surprising undefeated team...have to hold complete judgment though...member of the wake forest school of march chokejobskentucky- basically terriblevanderbilt- yeah they beat kentucky bad, but what the fuck is that worthtenn- they beat texas...and im supposed to be impressedthe west- NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHINGanybody who tries to suggest this is a good conference by any stretch of the imagination is a god damned mother fucking moron, plain and simple
1/12/2006 12:36:20 AM
1/12/2006 12:41:58 AM
yeah, that was clearly exaggerating a point...i knew you guys werent very educated out there, but i figured you could get thatsure, somebody from the west will make the tournament...with all the shitty competition, someone will be above .500the sec is lumped in with the pac 10 and big 12...usually they can hold their own amongst those scrub conferences...this year they are almost certainly the worst of the 3
1/12/2006 12:46:12 AM
SEC sucks pretty fucking bad this year. Right now they should get 3 teams in the tourney, but I'm sure they'll squeeze in 4 because they're a "big" conference.
1/12/2006 12:48:32 AM
of course they are lumped in with those two... but while that isnt the ACC or Big East that isnt horrible by any means... there are a LOT more conferences that are worse than the SEC than there are that are better.
1/12/2006 12:49:24 AM
moral of the story isthe sec is not typically a great basketball conferencethis year the sec is as bad as its been since i can remember
1/12/2006 12:50:17 AM
^ On that point you may be correct, however Kentucky is extremely inconsistant but not bad, Florida is really good, LSU is pretty good, Alabama is pretty good (almost beat NC State), and of course Tennessee is very good!
1/12/2006 9:58:52 AM
Who have those teams played, though? Florida's toughest games were FSU and Miami, hardly the height of the NCAA (and don't even mention Syracuse and Wake). Tenn has only beaten Texas. And 'Bama just got embarrassed by State all night long, if you were actually watching. The game itself was never in question, regardless of the final score.
1/12/2006 10:01:47 AM
SEC Teams in the Tournament:FloridaKentuckyTennesseeVanderbiltLSUAlabama has been not great, and with Chuck Davis out for the year, they are NIT bound. Try to drop your ACC bias for 3 seconds and you will see that quality teams do exist beyond the ACC. We all know the ACC is a top tier conference (along with big east and big 10) this year, but it is not the only conference. But the guy who started this thread is really overrating Tennessee. They won't make the Sweet 16. Texas ain't that good.
1/12/2006 10:07:42 AM
1/12/2006 10:09:38 AM
When you are only a third of the way through the season and the conference scheduke has just started, it is difficult to judge how good or bad teams/conferences are... except the Vols which are AWESOME!
1/12/2006 10:21:21 AM
if sand was goodness, Tennessee would be the beaches of the world
1/12/2006 10:24:21 AM
College Basketball's New Dynasty until Bruce Pearl leaves for a real basketball school
1/12/2006 10:42:34 AM
na, hes permanent, he has a nameplate on his desk and everything. even has his name on the door outside the office, wont be going anywhere for a while now thats he obviously unpacked his shit, duh!
1/12/2006 10:48:56 AM
If dynasty means winning 11 of your first 12 games with only one win versus a quality opponent then NC State, Duke, UF, Villanova, Pittsburgh, USC's football team, the Detroit Pistons, the Colts, my friend's bowling team, that little league team I played on in 4th grade, my sister's soccer team, etc. were all dynasties too. This thread is horrible. Take this shit to a UT board.
1/12/2006 11:42:21 AM
none of them have CJ Watson and Chris Lofton...they are mearly paper dynasties... Tennessee is exploding, almost Ming like in its dynastisism.
1/12/2006 1:01:23 PM
^^Don't HATE
1/12/2006 1:19:46 PM
my high school could go 11-1 in the sec...come ontypical football school getting one quality win and thinking they're the shit in bball now too
1/12/2006 2:28:12 PM
im not a big fan of parody but in this case its awsome. football team is awful now the bball team is out to a great start. plus pearl is a sourthern indiana guy like me. i believe in this team but not a dynasty.
1/12/2006 2:29:05 PM
Tennessee will be nasty in a couple of years.... I hate them as much as the next guy, but all of you making fun need to watch out. Pearl is doing well this season, he's kicking ass in recruiting, and he's a helluva coach
1/12/2006 2:31:40 PM
We would beat them by 15+....Tennessee is garbage. Although they probably could win the CAA.
1/12/2006 2:57:30 PM
haters, all of you... there were 21,000 at the Georgia game... and they arent even a huge bball rival like Florida and Kentucky... Jump on the bandwagon now before its too late...
1/12/2006 3:09:13 PM
I swear this to be true... the guy who lives next to me is a DIE HARD UT alum and attends every home football game. He was so disgusted about the football season (duh)... and he said; "y'know, I didn't think you could put put five niggers on a basketball court and them not be able to play. But I think Tennesse has found a way to do it." His words, not mine... wow he was wrong and I assume pleasantly surprised. lolHe's kind of a subscriber to the "Maurice Clarrett is a Dumb Nigger" school of thought.
1/12/2006 3:14:14 PM
