So I took my truck to Tire King on Airport Blvd today to get an inspection sticker and they didnt pass it b/c the front windows only allowed 28% pass through. I still had to pay the inspection fee and the light meter test fee, which is bullshit. Is there anywhere in the Raleigh/Cary area that will pass my truck? I bought the truck in Georgia so maybe their standards are different.

Yeah the only thing about getting it retinted is $$$. Cant someone just look the other way??

yeah, you still have to pay the fee...however, if you were to "fix" your windows so that they'd pass inspection, you can take it back to that station and have them reinspect it without having to pay.

no state inspections here in FL

Roll your winders down beforehand.

Inspections are a cash cow for shops and give the state gov't a lot of money to squander, but they are absolutely useless

your best bet would be to roll down the window, pull the fuse that controls the power windows, and just say that your power windows are broken and stuck downyou dont have to have side windows to pass inspection but they might still give you shit for it and not pass you

if they don't make much off of them, why do they bother with them?

Doesnt anyone know of a little hole in the wall inspection place that may just not care about window tint? There have to be some around.

my go-to inspection station dosent even own a light meter.but im not telling my spot, although i dont have a problem sharing a technique I have used in the past- there is a possibility that by tomorrow your failed inspection will show up when any station enters your information. it may or may not tell them what you failed for today, but that will ususally make them look more closely at your car and then youre back at square one. jiffy lube closes at 6, but they will stop taking in cars for inspections 15-30 minutes before that. if you play it right, try and make sure you are the last car for the day. at this point the inspector has been on his feet for 8 hours and has probably done 15-20 inspections and countless other shitty tasks, and likely wont go over your car with the fine tooth comb. the fact that its getting dark early this time of year will help you here. if your not a snobby jagoff its okay to indirectly distract the inspector too by standing around and chewing the fat with the guy during the inspection, but dont hover over the guy while he tries to work if he isnt in the mood for chatting.

^ what he said. Its not hard to get it passed. my front windows are at about 20-25% and i just got it passed last weekend. roll the winders down, bullshit with the guy, hell even tell him up front that you know the windows wont pass, but a buddy of yours told you to come see him b/c he will take care of you. tell him you got an extra 20 for him if he makes sure you pass.

^ where did you get yours passed?

Ask in PMs.No one will or should give you an answer on a publicly viewed message board. It can a lot of problems if read by the law enforcement officials that someitme view these threads.
