Mike and Mike say the initial line is Bears -3That's just a homefield advantage...I say Panthers have this onePrediction: Panthers 20 Bears 13
1/9/2006 9:41:05 AM
i am not looking past the bearsshould be a good gamei say panthers 21, bears 17we'll worry about the (most likely) seahawks when the time comes
1/9/2006 9:44:36 AM
The Panthers are the better team overall and should win. The only way they lose is if Jake throws 2-3 picks that put the Bears in scoring position, as he did earlier this year.
1/9/2006 9:54:02 AM
in the playoffs its one week at a time you can't look ahead to the next week ever. Focus on your opponent, the Bears have a good LB corp thats healthy unlike the Giants. The only thing the Panthers need to do differently is avoid Turnover's in our half of the field. Whats the Over/Under on this game?
1/9/2006 9:58:31 AM
I haven't heard yet, but the joke is its single digits
1/9/2006 9:59:25 AM
my bears will shut down Foster and that's all it will take to beat you guysand heaven forbid if Jake gets a little pressure in his grill....the INT's will be plentifulRex will go 18-25 for 195 and 1TDThomas will rush 25 times for 130the LBs will have 2 sacksthe D-line will have 3 sacksVash will have 2 picksBears 17Panthers 0
1/9/2006 10:02:15 AM
I don't see that happening at all. Grossman while an improvement from Orton is still incosistent. The Panther's D is no slouch either the only reason the Bears scored a TD was because Vasher picked a badly thrown pass and ran it to the 5. The panthers had 3 games where the running game beat them. They shut down Dunn twice and the Tiki torch was extinguished yesterday. We will key on Muhammad and the running game and make Grossman beat us.
1/9/2006 10:11:04 AM
Panthers in playoffs > Panthers in regular season
1/9/2006 10:39:44 AM
lets hope so for your sakebecause i was very unimpressed with your regular season performance, to say the least
1/9/2006 10:40:56 AM
we should run, run, pass safely, puntwait for the defense to score or set us up for an easy one
1/9/2006 10:44:23 AM
^^ apparently you were under a rock from 1-4 yesterday[Edited on January 9, 2006 at 10:45 AM. Reason : *]
1/9/2006 10:44:33 AM
^^yeah i agree. the game is just going to come down to who had the fewest turnovers....with two teams that are as closely matched as these special teams and ball control are going to decide the game. I'm cautiously optimistic since our D looked outstanding against the giants...but i am really worried about our offense since i dont think foster will even get 70 yds and delhomme might try to force a few things. As long as the panthers aren't playing from behind i see our offense putting up a decent game.
1/9/2006 10:44:38 AM
who is "we"because if you're refering to Chicago as "we" in that instance, I agree with youthe Bears need a run heavy game plan. hell, i'd like to see Cedric Benson get some carries. at least 25 touches from Thomas and another 10-15 from Adrian
1/9/2006 10:46:33 AM
WE ALL GO TO NC STATE
1/9/2006 10:57:18 AM
^^ i guess it can be the game plan for either team
1/9/2006 10:58:51 AM
1/9/2006 11:02:16 AM
Bears: 21Panthers: 13
1/9/2006 11:02:57 AM
We also were using Stephen Davis as the primary back. Plus add in the revenge factor. The Panthers will be ready to play.
1/9/2006 11:13:15 AM
we were cock then, now we're gonna play smartjust like tampa did to us, they used stategy to beat our defensei think well run alot alot of short plays and drive all the way down, 4 yards at a timepanthers 30, bears 3
1/9/2006 11:20:07 AM
hahaha30 on the Bears defensei hope you're not using the "well they allowed a lot of points in the season finale...they're obviously overrated and they'll give up a lot of points to us" logicTHIRTY! LOL
1/9/2006 11:22:42 AM
1/9/2006 11:30:01 AM
look how the steelers beat down your defense when they have a good rushing attackalthough it would be nice to have someone as big as the bus but we have goings... he has alot of tatoos
1/9/2006 11:32:39 AM
The bears are a very good team but you cant seriously think they are going to get a shutout. That is insane. The team with the worst offense in football(Bears) might just get shut out. I could see that long before the panthers getting shut out.
1/9/2006 11:43:53 AM
i agree. you don't have anybody like Bettisso there goes that argument
1/9/2006 11:47:07 AM
yeah we have some guy named foster who can burn people and goings, and pretty much anybody we put in there can get yardsall im saying is that you gotta pick, either stop the run or stop the passyou're gonna get burn either way
1/9/2006 11:58:12 AM
the bears have ZERO offense. the panthers aren't going to put up another performance like they did when they played the bears the first time. Jake needs to play smart, but other than that, I see the panthers taking this one. also, the bears lost to the browns. it's not like they're a powerhouse.
1/9/2006 12:08:30 PM
OMG, you're righti missed watching you guys get 5 turnovers handed to youand I missed watching Foster spin his way out of arm tacklesand I missed open receivers dropping the rare passes from Eli that were in their vacinity you guys were handed that game on a silver platterI'm really hoping this is sarcasm. If not, you must be a Giants fan.
1/9/2006 12:10:29 PM
Here's the line:CAROLINA +3.0 -120 OVER 30.0 -110 +135CHICAGO -3.0 EVEN UNDER 30.0 -110 -155
1/9/2006 12:20:11 PM
just out of curiosity, what happened the last time the panthers played the bears?
1/9/2006 12:25:43 PM
the panthers lost, which obviously means they'll lose next weekend too. in fact, they may never win another game
1/9/2006 12:27:47 PM
1/9/2006 12:29:56 PM
I'm expecting Carolina to have no running game and Steve Smith tol be shut down, yet Ricky Proehl will manage 2 touchdown passes. This game wouldn't surprise me if it went into overtime.
1/9/2006 12:40:55 PM
the panthers' qb is delhomme, not proehl.
1/9/2006 12:45:24 PM
however if proehl threw 2 td passes, i wouldnt care if we lost or not, that would be enough awesome to last for the next 2 seasons.
1/9/2006 12:50:14 PM
it takes someone on the receiving end to complete a touchdown pass.
1/9/2006 12:50:47 PM
I like the Bears. They are a really good football team. We're not gonna run the ball on the Bears, and I dont have faith in DelTurnover against a good defense right now.
1/9/2006 12:52:28 PM
kruk quickly points out how we were handed the game on sunday. but he forgets that the panthers handed the bears the game in chicago. The bears would have never scored if it wasnt for the mistakes the "smashmouth" chicago D forced delhomme into. At that point in the season our defense was playing rather uninspired... see the NY Jets game. Now I'm not saying that we are going to be able to run effectively against them because we aren't. I believe that if the panthers are going to win, we are going to have to make use of the screen and the short pass. But I certainly don't see the bears scoring many TD's unless we turn the ball over. And please John Fox, put Chris Draft back at MLB. He has been a game changer when in the ball game. I didnt hear Morgan's name called once on Sunday. Bears 13Panthers 6[Edited on January 9, 2006 at 12:59 PM. Reason : sp.]
1/9/2006 12:58:17 PM
thats because the giants only had the ball 18 minutes. Morgan shut down the pass out of the backfield to Tiki.
1/9/2006 2:36:39 PM
^^ obviously if the giants were shut out, he was doing something right. i think draft only plays exceptionally well against the falcons. otherwise, there's a reason morgan is the starter
1/9/2006 3:52:06 PM
morgan is fucking crazy...thats the only reason he gets hurt so much is cause he plays like a beast and puts everything he has into every play....i dont want to hear any more shit talk about morgan..he's been playing with a shoulder that got dislocated earlier in the season which is one of the most painful injuries to deal with. i cant imagine how much pain he plays through and yet he still does his part, even with a shoulder brace. Fox obviously thinks that an injured Morgan is better than Draft and last time I checked Fox was one god damned awesome coach.
1/9/2006 7:28:27 PM
first off it would be hard to run down the middle against the bears butwith foster we dont have to, he can make alot happen despite the good defensei'll even credit Goings for being able to wear down their defenselook for them to spend alot of time playing defense and they will get tiredpanthers 31 bears 6
1/9/2006 7:44:48 PM
The Bears are not the best tackling team. Pittsburgh showed that. Get Foster some open space, and he will expose that D.
1/9/2006 9:21:42 PM
that pittsburgh game shouldnt really be relied onit was a white out afterall..the bears didnt show up that weeki'm betting on the panthers, merely as a hedge for my utility
1/9/2006 9:37:20 PM
1/9/2006 9:44:12 PM
of course they wont shut down steve smiththey just need to contain him and they did a good enough job last time
1/9/2006 9:45:20 PM
I think panthers will win because of:A. Playoffs experienceB. Grossman has played 1 game this year and hasn't played any in like 2 or 3 weeks.C. Panthers' running game is like whoaD. Delhomme hasn't been screwing up lately(plz keep it that way)E. Steve SmithF. Panthers=7-2 on roadG. Teams that haven't been in the playoffs in a while are 1-4 so far.(I think)[Edited on January 9, 2006 at 9:49 PM. Reason : fsdaf]
1/9/2006 9:48:44 PM
hahaha, look at the poll on espn.com about who the best team in the nfc is. the map that pops up shows NC and SC as panthers, IL as bears, and the rest of the fucking country as seattle.
1/9/2006 9:58:11 PM
Time for a skew
1/9/2006 10:07:09 PM
1/9/2006 10:32:29 PM
Did anyone noticed all 4 first-time playoffs QBs lost last weekend? For that reason alone, I'm going with the Panthers.
