I say yes, but I really don't know my college football history as well as some of you. What do you think?

last nights FSU game was more exciting, and i didnt even watch it.
1/5/2006 1:19:32 AM
it was better than the world series raised to the olympics power
1/5/2006 1:20:28 AM
YES.
1/5/2006 1:20:39 AM
Miami / Ohio State
1/5/2006 1:20:59 AM
NC STATE SHUT OUT SOUTH FLORIDA, BEST BOWL EVAR!!!
1/5/2006 1:21:15 AM
probably the best I have ever seen...and if the USC/ND game earlier this season would've been a bowl game, it'd be up there too
1/5/2006 1:21:17 AM
great game...surethere are games like this every year thoughbut oh yeah, it was the greatest bowl game played tonite
1/5/2006 1:21:27 AM
It is clearly better than last night because the only reason the game was exciting was because the game was so shitty, the field goal kickers sucked. Actually, for some reason a lot of field goal kickers sucked this year.

Jesus Christ, no.

This was an awesome game. Personally, I liked LSU - OU, but that's because it was my first time being around all the buildup, anticipation, victory, and subsequent celebration for the Sugar Bowl and it just so happens that like 75% of my friends attend LSU.
1/5/2006 1:38:20 AM
I thought last nights game was pretty damn good, but there was just a wierd feeling as I was watching it because the game came down to kicking, and shitty kicking at that. You hate to see a game with so many missed field goals like that. This one was really good though.[Edited on January 5, 2006 at 2:09 AM. Reason : ]

Mack Brown should thank Bob Stoops for Oklahoma being so bad that Texas could actually beat them. I think next year it goes right back to Oklahoma winning the Red River Shootout again.
1/5/2006 2:25:38 AM
Sure, it was a good game and came down to the wire, but there were too many fumbles, missed FG's and what have you for me to call it the best ever.
1/5/2006 3:00:21 AM
The Miami/OSU game is ranked #2 all time, not just in bowl games, but the #2 college football game ever.
1/5/2006 3:01:45 AM
ohio st/miami and this one
1/5/2006 3:25:11 AM
don't go trying to sound all authoritative on that... ranked by WHO?
1/5/2006 3:25:19 AM
1/5/2006 6:48:55 AM
wait a few years, then ask the question...everyone thought Miami/OSU was the greatest game ever for weeks afterward, but thinking back to it it really wasn't that great of a game, just dramatic...
1/5/2006 7:20:02 AM
all things considered I'm gonna go with yes.
1/5/2006 1:18:11 PM
I never really understood the big deal over the Ohio State / Miami game. I mean, sure it was a good game, but I never got a boner over it like everyone else. Of course, that could be because I hate both of those teams so I wasnt overly interested in the outcome either way... I think that Texas/Michigan game last year was just as good if not better
1/5/2006 1:24:03 PM
^what I recall is that it was a big deal b/c it was the first OT NC game (I believe). But I agree, I don't hold it up that high either.
1/5/2006 1:26:13 PM
Definitely the best football game that I've ever watched.

I think last night was a good game, but as far as each team giving it their all, I think only one team did. USC made many mistakes, Texas should receive credit for a few, but the Bush lateral is still mind boggling. The playcalling by USC on 4th and short was atrocious. Bascially I'm saying USC will know that they didn't give it their best effort, and that Texas gave it mroe than their best effort, and it was just barely enough. Leinart was right IMO that USC is the better team, he just shouldn't have said it, makes him look like a sore loser. All that aside, the Rose Bowl in 1997? with Jake the Snake and OSU with Eddie George was my choice for best bowl game. Both teams gave it absolutely everything they had.
1/5/2006 1:30:55 PM
^how can you say USC is the better team? Besides them losing to UT and having pretty much identical stats on the year...how can you say that?
1/5/2006 1:34:14 PM
well, if they played that 4th and 2 play over again, 9 more times, I bet White would have made it another 4 inches at least 6 out of the 9 times. Texas played really well that one game, which is all that matters but doesnt mean they are the better team. They were the better team last night.
1/5/2006 1:55:52 PM
you can't play what if. b/c if you do that you can turn around almost every game What if Texas had gotten the first down when they went for it on 4th down in the first quarter?
1/5/2006 1:57:59 PM
I was just saying what he meant by still a better team even though they lost. Any top 50 team could conceivably beat a top 5 team any day, probably wont happen, but could. Doesnt make them an overall better team.

works fine for meeven though I don't agree with it (It is collegefootballnews.com, after all. Nothing they say ever makes much sense)

who cares about macgyver? you people should just let him cheer for whoever he wants. everybody knows it's a lot easier for somebody to cheer for a team that wins; a team the person really has no affiliation towards. why do you care so much?
1/5/2006 3:07:09 PM
more like macgayver.

What I'm saying is USC is the better team. If they played a 7 game series, no way does Texas win 4. No chance. Vince young was perfect last night, absolutely perfect (corso said it was the best performance ever and he's been around). Mix in a perfect game from Young, a decent game from Leinart, solid from Lendel and Jarret, and average from Reggie Bush, nothing spectacular or ALL American anywhere from USC. And don't say it was UT's D that stoned USC's O, we all saw that was not the case. Now throw in USC's mistakes. So you have average play from USC's offense (compared to themselves), many key mistakes, replay system giving Texas the breaks, Vince Young playing PERFECT, terrible play by USC's "D" and Texas wins ONLY by 3, and with 20 more seconds USC would have tied it IMO even with all the other crap USC had to endure......no way that happens 4 out of 7 times. Texas played great and got it done when it counted, and they are the champs, which proves to me that the best team does not always win and that's why they play it out....I'm certainly not discrediting Texas's Championship. I'm just saying that USC lost moreso than Texas won. And to think Bush is less talented than Young off one game is rediculous. Young ripped apart the 39th best defense, woohoo, as did Fresno State. Can't wait for Young to go up against NFL linebackers, good luck, even Vick got shelfed for a season for that stuff. Bush over Young anyday overall, I'd like to see tape of Bush in practice against USC's D, proly a lot like Young against that "D." But, Vince Young was def. the MVP last night, no argument there.

Best bowl game ever (that I have seen) had to be:2002 GMAC BowlECU vs. Marshall2 overtimes...Leftwich hurt and still playing...ECU meltdown...One of the highest scoring bowl games ever....That's mine. 2003 Gator Bowl was nice also....
1/5/2006 5:20:42 PM
^I was thereI'd have to put this game right there with the miami/ohio st game
1/5/2006 5:25:27 PM
It was great and it was entertaining. It wasn't a defensive battle. People love to watch teams score a lot of points versus defensive struggles. So it came down to a 4th down/have to score a touchdown/pretty much last play of the game outcome. It could only have been more dramatic if Young's run was the actual last play of the game or if USC managed to get within field goal range and knocked one off the post or something like that.I think it definitely goes down as one of the best...but it's subjective.
