Im about to beat the crap out of my computer.. I know AutoCAD fairly well..and Ive been trying and trying to get the printer to acknowledge the plot style settings or pen style settings and I keep getting a colored printout when I want it all in black/greyscale.. but with the correct linewieghts.. I've tried everything thing I can possibly adjust or tweak and nothing.. so.. 20 bucks if you can come and set it up for me asap.

go into printer setup, set page as balck & white.

or print to PDF, print pdf as black and white.

I need the correct linewieghts not just black and white.. more to it than just telling the printer to use greyscale/black n white.. It has to be fix within autocad

if you set it in the printer options it will print in the same lineweight as your drawings just in grayscale.

Unless you are using an actual pen plotter. If you are using an inkjet or laser, then yes just set the output to blan & white on the printer and it will do what you are asking.

Hmm.. well let me run this by you..

I have tired setting the printer options to greyscale.. and didnt notice the linewieghts incorportated but rather the colors repersented in greyscale..

so If i switch it to black and white..the line wieghts should show?

in the layer manager window click on the color. you should see a tab titled "truecolor" - you can select tones of gray same as you would in photoshop, etc., also make sure you change the lineweight in the layer manager window as well, although some printers are not sensitive enough to handle really small lineweights.

So your saying rather than designate linewieght by color, use layers.. the layers then can be designated by color...but the ploter will then need to be set up to use layer spec'd linewieghts..?

right, that will also help tremendously when you get into more complex drawings, in which case it is practically impossible to manage stuff by just clicking things of the same color. as you get more into it you will find that there are endless options both in 2d and 3d that make layers a godsend

sigh.. For the particular situation that becomes a tendious suggestion. I will remeber that for when I begin another design..I understand what you are saying and suggesting..

Yet, somehow I know there is a way I can get CAD to acknowledge my line colors (Not designated by layers) and then apply a spec'd linewieght..Ive done it before..but I cant figure out why CAD wont do it now... I think I can get by with alittle massaging... sux tho, cuz I know I did this last year and its the same project but something got changed in either the preferences or with the new printer..

Thanks tho..I should have started it that way..

Have a couple things going for me tho.. a) I used grayscale colors to designate linewieght in CAD-Space..so I just have to adjust the poche color...and b) well..there isnt a b..just more work to be done..
