Looking to get some bass up in the Audi, problem is its a drop top...anybody been around those bazooka bass tubes? 8inch tube, or the 6inch tube, both claim 200 watts RMS, both will fit, but is one better than the other? I was thinkin the 8 would move more air, hence more bass/better sound, but maybe thats just a dumbass approach to itagain, im not trying to let my fellow drivers on the road feel the boom, just want some better sound quality in the car...

The greater the surface area, and the greater the maximum excursion, the more bass will be produced.

a bass tube is not going to add sound quality - it will however add bass

^ I agree, I had an 8" SAS tube in my vw hatch, it was sufficient for reinforcement of the stock system, but not the best quality. It was a little muddy sounding. -- Dave

a large freshwater aquarium would be easy to install, but you would need a lid on it or the water might slosh out. also the pump thing i guess you would need a 12v one.

Having not seen the area you're working with this is just a complete stab in the dark, but you could always go with the Kicker solo-baric line. The 10" requires .66-1 cu. ft. in a sealed box and can be had fairly cheap ($/quality wise anyway).

no, do not go with bass tubes.. get a sub in a sealed box, and separate amp for it.

i think the bass tube is a great adtion for people looking for a little bit more bass. the price and convience of a basstube is hard to beat. if you make some adjustments after u install a sub u should notice better sound quality. with the sub you can increase the crossover point on your speakers meaning they only play treble and midrange leaving the bass to handle the sub and inreasing sq all around.if you're interested i have a 10" infinty reference sub in like new condition i'd be willing too let got for pretty cheap.[Edited on January 3, 2006 at 1:47 PM.
