Between confidence, and being a cocky annoying bastard

I'm not sure there is a difference. The cocky annoying bastards seem to do pretty well at everything that requires confidence.

one is annoying to everyone else and makes the person seem like a douche.

the other is lacking that whining pussy aura and standing up for yourself in a smart/reasonable manner or doing simple (maybe slightly hard) things without worrying about it.

I think confidence comes from knowing who you are and what you are capable of as well as not needing anyone to hold your hand through every little situation because u are always scared/shy. Cockiness is like cyrion said annoying and s like purposely rubbing it in the face of ppl just because you can. There is a fine line between the two. But it can clearly be seen when someone is asking someone else out. There has to be enough confidence for the approach, but cockiness is a turnoff.

Confidence is being able to look at yourself as a self-reliant, intelligent, overall good person without looking down on others or seeing yourself as holier-than-thou. You don't believe you are better than anyone, but you do believe that you are just as good as everyone. You can also back up what you think/say.
Being cocky is seeing yourself as that self-reliant, intellegent, overall good person, but also looking down on others or seeing yourself as that whole holier-than-thou person. You would believe that you are better than many people and a lot of what you say would probably be backed up by bullshit.

I think one could also make the argument that extremely cocky people are actually overly not confident in themselves, so they over compensate by acting far too confident, hence, cockiness

true, but some are just stupid enough to think that they are perfect when they are far from it.

^ fat girls who act like they are teh hottest bitches even though they secretly hate their bodies are teh worst.
