I don't know if a scale can be that accurate with bf %

In any event I bought a TANITA that I got at Dicks for $50 (they had some for less as well I think)

in the bast few days my bf% has changed by 1-5% (sooo not very accurate)

There isn't a scale out there that can give you bodyfat percentage. For body fat percentage, you need measurements other than weight. You need a caliper to use the skinfold test. That's the only way I know of to get a true measurement. Using wieght, you can only make an estimate based on typical values and your height.

-bio-electrical impedance (not very consistent; what scales use)
-skin-fold calipers (sufficiently accurate if done properly)
-hydrostatic weighing (most expensive, but the most precise measurement)

ive got a body fat percentage scale for xmas as a semijoke since i've been watching what i eat. it only changes by a percent or so any given day so they arent that terrible. at worst you have a general idea of where you're at and it does more than just calculate on height (electric pulse like someone else said).

^It may be reliable, and tell you when your body fat percentage increases or decreases. However, it's the validity of the percentage that is in question.

word, like i said, just a ballpark figure and even being precisely incorrect works well for what you'd want from a simple/cheap scale (to monitor changes in your body fat).
