My phone has been lost or stolen. I've reported it, but I was wondering if anyone has had any experience like this.

Will I be liable for charges? Will homeowners insurance or other types of insurance cover a new phone/phone damage/fraudulent charges?

tell your provider and you wont be liable
theres no way to know if your insurance covers it unless you just want people to guess what kind of insurance you have

I have to provide a police report so Cingular will honor my insurance and give me a new phone.

Ok. Update.

My account's current usage shows nearly three hours of international phone calls from early yesterday morning, well after I was a) asleep and b)no longer in possession of my cell phone. I reported my phone lost sometime that afternoon.

Any chance I won't be liable for those calls?

for really tho, if you reported your phone stolen AFTER all those charges had been racked up, then yes, technically you are liable for those charges.

However, if you call cust. svc. and BE NICE, AND REASONABLE, politely explain whats going on, have them check your past calling patterns, they will probably realize that in fact it wasnt you who made the calls. Having the police report in hand prior to making this call will help you out greatly.

If the first person you speak with doesnt want to help, try again. and keep trying until someone is willing to help you.
This shit happens all the time. Just dont call them and act like they owe you something. They dont. The key is to get them on your side.

One of the numbers is a number in my phonebook, so I have, in fact called it before.
