As far as lotus products go Sametime has proven itself to be the best they have to offer. The server is rock solid for the most part. It is very easy to setup a server and then forget about it for months. The only real pain in the ass is that most changes to configurations involve restarts of the server. Which is really lame in what should be a production environment. Even some minor changes require restarts. And in a company like mine that relies heavily on office IM, its a real productivity killer to have it unavailible for 30 minutes. But when its running it runs. No problems. It also has a nice set of APIs availible in COM, c++, java, and some others. The only thing that really sucks about it is Sametime Meetings. They're screen sharing, colaberation type meeting deals. The performance is horrible. If you're not in the same building as the server you're in for major display lag.

we use windows messenger on our corporate network, not as many features as aim, but gets the job done.It runs off some internal server so people can't use it to chat with people outside the company.

you people should be happy that you don't have to deal with assnine FDA regs at your offices. If we got caught using IM at work by the FDA, we'd be fucked so hard.
