pretty sure it means that it can display at 1080p, which I don't think many/any other TVs do yet. They all do 720p or 1080i. So it has the same resolution as 1080i TVs, but has a refresh rate that's effectively twice as fast.

tigerdirect has a 4th gen Samsung 56" DLP thats 1080p with stand and 5 piece surround system for $2700 bucks. It's fucking hot.

Pioneer's 61" 1080p Plasma

or sony's

1080p front projector...costs the same as the 61" plasma without the screen though.

they have had the sony sxrd's at Tweeter for at least 3 or 4 months. They have the 70" and 60" on display. needless to say, it's BALLER AS FUCK.

yea the sxrds are nice we have 1 on display at ccity. another advantage is supposed to be they have 1/2 as much space between the pixels as others. i think the sxrd is the best looking rear projection we have hands down.and we got all kinds of financin options for people who havn't yet achieved balla status.

It doesnt matter if its 900000 pixels , if the image processor sucks, it wont matter. When is the last time you had 1080p as a video option on HDTV channels.

i decided to put our 50" sxrd right next to the Sony 50" lcd projection at work (sears at cary) and now we're all like damn the lcd looks like shit (and its still $2500!!) next to the SXRD.

but of course if your source isn't up to par then I agree but you can see a big difference regardless. Source, source, source

Its the same price as a 50" Panasonic or Samsung plasma. Unless a technophile wants to buy one, it will be tough to sell until the price comes down.

I can't imagine the 70" version- I need to stop by tweeter (its got to be at least $7000 !!)

I dont like deinterlacer noise . Im not saying it has that problem, but i would have to see it in person and no store tv setup in this area has a decent signal hooked up to it. Tweeter guys will ask me about my projecter for too long, and then ramble about some silverfirehawkbeadscreen for 2300$.

The SXRD is 1080p... Howerever... it cannot accept a true 1080p signal (ie ps3, hd-dvd, bluray). It will upconvert a 720p or 1080i signal to 1080p. Wait for the 2nd generation 1080p tvs before dropping 3K+ on a tv. A couple 1080p tv's (ie one from HP and the beasts from samsung) can accept a 1080p signal through their RGB connection. But thats crap since most people would hook their stuff up with an HDMI input.

^ That can be a problem, depending on how you look at it. As a rule of thumb with anything, if you can wait longer you should. Right now, not acepting a 1080p signal isn't that bad, because there is not much, if anything, that currently has that resolution. It's extremely hard to tell the difference between 1080i and 1080p anyway.. Just my opinion.

Im not quite sure why you need that resolution in a TV at all. I use a 720p projecter and cant see the pixels on a 120 inch screen from my couch, and my couch is pretty fucking close.

Uhm No. SXRD is just a display technology and it can display any 1080p signal.

Whether or not the television accepts it is up to Sony but I highly doubt that they won't.

Oh they'll have the feature.

Once you plug your cable box into it though, itll make sure only Sony TV's will get signal.

Um No. The SXRD upconverts whatever signal it receives to 1080p. It cannot accept a 1080p signal through any of its inputs

Oh yeah, and there's a wall mountable version of the SXRD coming out. It's unconfirmed in this article, but I know some people at Best Buy and have already seen the confirmation letter that Best Buy will be carrying it in spring 2006
