with a sattelite radio vent mount, could having the heat blowing out the vent damage the radio?

Most equipment of that sort has a range of operating temperatures in the manual. Check the manual and then stick a thermometer down you heating vent to see if you're within operating limits. I'm fairly sure that it will be safe.
