Where is a good place to order one from? My google searches have yielded nothing but shady ass sites I've never heard of.

Anybody recommend a place to buy one from? Even better is there a store in Raleigh that carries these?

I fixed this on a girl's laptop recently, the part you most likely need is the inverter. Check ebay, I got one for $20. I'll do the same repair for you for $100 if you're interested.

how old is the laptop

because it might be a better idea just to upgrade if you can float that

and then sell the broken one on ebay to recoop some of the loss
