When I go over a speed bump, it sounds like I have a cooler in my trunk or like something bouncing up and then back down again. My wheels are on tight, my chasis is fine...I dont know what else it could be - and no, it isnt the gas because it doesn't slosh.

I do believe you might need some new SCRUTS (ebonics for struts).

haha i used to always laugh at the black guys that said that.
12/29/2005 9:39:29 PM
well, its a Cavalier if that means anything to anyone...But I will have the struts checked.

LOLERSDo you have a seat folded down in the back?My dad's van always hits speedbumps and, if the chair is folded down in the back (it doesn't lock into place when it's folded down), the chair will get some air time then smack back down (makes a thud every time, a pretty loud one at that).[Edited on December 29, 2005 at 10:40 PM. Reason : n00b]K, so if there's nothing in the trunk actually loose like that this isn't the problem.[Edited on December 29, 2005 at 10:40 PM. Reason : Why don't I read the goddamn replies?]

no, I keep my seat up. lol

strut mounts, get a fat kid to jump up and down on the hood and listen for it
12/29/2005 10:45:38 PM
Either struts or strut mounts, yep. The strut mounts on my car have started doing the same thing (though I suppose it might not be identical b/c mine is an odd setup with the air suspension).

You guys are gonna laugh...It's my muffler bouncing around! I looked under it the other day and I saw that the strap thing that holds it close to the heat shield has broken! I looked at it and instantly laughed.

at least it didn't rust off like mine did that one time[Edited on January 16, 2006 at 12:57 PM. Reason : the whole thing just fell off >.<]

No, thank God! The rest of it is in good shape...Just the strap is what's not.
1/16/2006 1:02:39 PM
I can weld it up fer ye if need be.
1/16/2006 1:13:15 PM
this whole time i was thinking it was a cooler in your trunk
1/16/2006 7:32:41 PM
haha, my parents said the same thing because I had brought some deer meat to school the week before it started, but I had already removed the cooler.

a strap holding the exhaust?? grounding strap maybe? hey dan lemme know when you get good enough to want to tackle muffler replacement on '00 frontier 4cyl. single in, dual out, under bed near axle

I used to do that stuff all the time...back when I had access to a tubing bender and an exhaust rack. Now all I can do is tack stuff back together...no means to bend pipe or expand or flare. And that truly sucks.
