I am looking for a 2 bedroom and here are some of the apartments I am looking at:Wildwoods of Lake Johnson- I have read good things about these but they seem kind of pricey on one site I looked at. If you live there, how much do you pay?Brookhill Townhouse ApartmentsSumter Square ApartmentsBriar Cliff Apartments in CaryMisty Woods in CaryLandmark ApartmentsColonial Village at Regency Place in CaryAn opinions on these places would be good or any other suggestions in the area would be great. I would like to keep it around 600/month and not be somewhere where I'm gonna die walking from my car to the door, if thats possible

gorman crossings and if you ignore my advice i'm gonna shoot myself cause thats about as /thread-ish as you can get[Edited on December 29, 2005 at 2:25 AM. Reason : at most 375 for TWO people W/ bigass rooms, nice back porch, more than adequate and cheap/good]
12/29/2005 2:24:20 AM
yeah, ive heard of gorman crossings, but from what i remember they don't have w/d hookups and i wanted a place with those since we have a washer and dryer
12/29/2005 12:15:32 PM
I live in Clarion Crossing and it's $560/mo. for 2BR/1BA. It probably wouldn't cost more than $600 if you want another bathroom. Ours doesn't have W/D or hookups but most do. It covers water as well. It's fast to Crossroads in Cary or to I440. I'm unfamiliar with the complexes you've listed but apts at lakes and some in Cary are pretty pricey.Oh and plenty of parking at your building door.[Edited on December 29, 2005 at 12:20 PM. I live at Wildwoods of Lake Johnson. We pay $715/month for a corner apartment, with fireplace, washer dryer hookups (electric), dishwasher, nice over, huge fridge, and a screen in porch. Huge Kitchen is also a bonus with plenty of space, and a semi bar. There is TONS of room in the family room. My apartment has 2 identical sized rooms, one has it's own bathroom, the other has 2 doors to close for personal or public use while still giving privacy. They have 3 bedroom apartments etc. One of the selling points to me were the fact that ANY problem is fixed within 24 hours on average. Sometimes much sooner. They have a team of people on site to make sure things are working okay. Another is the proximity to Lake Johnson and how we are on the dirt path side. IE not much traffic. IT's very peaceful. There is now plenty of parking. They redid the spaces and fixed that issue. I have yet to not get a parking spot anymore. Come check out the apartments. Just look at the models they have. They will walk you through them. It's worth it to me.

Our apartment in Wildwoods came with a W/D already. I think our three br was ~$1200.

rent.com says clarion crossings is expensive?http://www.rent.com/apartments/north-carolina/raleigh-durham-and-vicinity/raleigh/inside-the-beltline-/441721/did you get some kind of deal?
12/29/2005 12:54:01 PM
we live at wildwoods as well - been here over a year. we pay 625 a month for a two bedroom. i think thats pretty fair, especially since we used to pay 650 for a one bedroom in northwest raleigh.

gorman crossings is def. the way to go[Edited on December 29, 2005 at 3:25 PM. Reason : may be moving there myself ]
12/29/2005 3:25:21 PM
Yeah we got a deal on it, and I wouldn't be surprised if they do so with everyone. We also got the security deposit waived, but I suppose we'll pay for that if there is any damage to the apt before the lease ends. I don't know how much rent will be when we renew. They have a maintenance person on-call via pager during closed hours. We've only had one problem they had to fix, and she was willing to stay after she was supposed to be off work to fix it.Wildwoods sounds really nice, esp. if they have a $625 pricetag. We may have to look into that in another year - we'd love to have a fireplace.[Edited on December 29, 2005 at 4:24 PM. Reason : ]

My advice is to live in the city, get the whole gollege experience while you are here. University woods is for the sheltered people.

If you're thinking of a place near campus, one that isn't a complete shithole, think about Ivy Commons. ( http://www.ivycommons.com ) $600 a month for a 2br/2ba (equally sized bedrooms and bathroom. One bedroom has one extra window). Each unit comes with a washer and dryer (stacked unit, but it works pretty well). It's nice and quiet here, and if it gets a little loud people don't call the cops. No utilities are included in the rent, but here it's been about $105 a month per person for utilities (with digital cable w/ the DVR, roadrunner, water, electric). On the ground floor, you get a decent sized porch with a nice brick wall for privacy. On the second and third floors, you get a little patio to stand on, and I think you also get an outdoor storage closet... For some reason...Yeah, it's like a mile to walk to central campus, an even shorter walk to centennial (hell we're right next to varsity). Management isn't bad, parking is easy (plus you get one guest pass per person, and we've had people come over and their cars weren't towed (they were here for about 8 hours)). The appliances in the kitchen aren't exactly brand new, but they do the job just fine. The only thing to watch out for is that the management will sound moderately insane when you're talking the lease over and signing everything. Oh yeah, negotiate them down to $100 deposit per person. Just say "look, it's $200 for one person to rent one apartment, why not make it $100 per person for two people to rent one apartment?" Worked for us...

I just moved to Misty Woods and it is good so far. It costs $674 for a 2 bed 2 bath (of course the 1 beds would be cheaper though, not really sure by how much). NEway, amenities are worth the money and the people are nice. Good place and to my liking. Message me if you would like some specifics.

Gorman Crossings is ghetto as hell. Someone got shot when I lived there and there were roaches and maintenance sucked.
12/30/2005 11:38:07 PM
my advice is to rent a house instead of some shitty apartment with idiots all around you. there are hundreds around campus that are the same price as an apartment, but you get a YARD and a driveway too. not to mention your own roof.

lived at Clarion Crossing last year in the 3bed, 2bath apts up on the hill. the cost was within reason; management was super nice and always willing to help us out in any way possible, maintenance was awesome and timely (very friendly and could easily stop and talk to them). i couldnt believe how nice it was for college students living there. very clean apts i must say as well. our place had a W/D included in the price if i remember correctly.

Sumter Square Apartmentsa good friend of mine lived their for several years, not to expensive, overall ok.
12/30/2005 11:57:46 PM
i lived at wildwoods, LOVED it, a bit pricey, but oh so worth iti live at sumter square now, it's ok, 675 for a three bedroom, our upstairs neighbors are making it very unliveable though, i wouldnt be surprised if the whole ceiling fell down one day...seriously. fucking white trash elephants with their noisy ass dogs.
12/31/2005 12:23:01 AM
sounds like my old friend Paul's apartment. He had some hefty upstairs nbs, he theorized that they had a loose toilet they used to move around the apt for kicks. Sometimes it really sounded like it. I can't wait till I have my own house, I'm tired of breathing my nbs smoke, cough.
12/31/2005 12:28:41 AM
me and my roommate pay $650 for a 2br/2.5ba at falcon ridge for a townhouse - all depends on who your neighbors are though - ours are great
12/31/2005 12:33:39 AM
I lived at Sumter Square for 2 years and was very happy. The management and maintenance was great. The one trick is you absolutely must get a top floor apartment. That's pretty good advice anywhere though.

I LOVE living at remington place. Its a quiet place with alot of young professionals and we got them to throw in a free W/D with our lease. 2bd/2bath 1400 sq. ft. for 375. It doesn't get much better than that.

hopefully for at least 2 years, i hate moving.

My suggestion is to go to Rent.com and look those complexes up for some pics and specs, to narrow down to the ones you want to tour. Then when you sign the lease you print out the form for the apt. company to fill out and send into Rent.com and you get a $100 gift card that is used like a credit card. It was great to receive it.
