I just got my 360 and its really kicking ass. Does anyone with a 360 have the Wireless Wifi that plugs into the back? If so, how do you like it?
12/29/2005 11:45:41 AM

save your money and get a wifi to Ethernet bridge for like $30 from BestBuy. That wifi adaptor is $100 and not worth it.
12/29/2005 1:38:47 PM
i want a 360 right fucking now.
12/29/2005 1:39:22 PM
I'll selll you mine for $500 in cash
12/29/2005 1:40:13 PM

12/29/2005 2:35:42 PM
the nice thing about the 360 adapter is that its small and clips onto the back of the xbox
12/29/2005 2:38:31 PM
yea but it's $100. That's $70 that I can spend on games.
12/29/2005 2:39:07 PM
i had the wireless thing for xbox (and the bridges cost just as much back then if i recall correctly) and it always worked great on xbox live for me.
12/29/2005 2:49:27 PM
Most folks don't have 802.11a in their homes. You can get a Netgear 802.11b/g USB adaptor the size of a flash memory drive for $30 at bestBuy.
12/29/2005 2:53:12 PM
12/29/2005 3:03:14 PM
well, it's one $60 game and maybe an arcade game full version

Basically, are you saying any USB wireless antenna will work with the 360??
12/29/2005 3:54:36 PM
yes
12/29/2005 3:56:38 PM
Well, that does make since then. Are you using one now? Also, what model would you say I should go with if i deside to not get the xbox one.
12/29/2005 3:58:25 PM
I am not using one right now but do plan to get the Netgear WG111 from bestbuy for $30
12/29/2005 4:00:57 PM
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6825233&type=product&id=1091101527998there is the link for the Netgear. Does it matter that the xbox one opperates on both 2.4 and 5GHz wireless networks?
12/29/2005 4:02:35 PM
it shouldn't matter unless you use a Windows Media Center PC to stream videos to your XBox. Do you have a 5Ghz router at home?

Nah, Its a linksys 2.4 GHz 802.11g im pretty sure. Well, im going to give the netgear one a try...can't hurt. I'd really like saving $70. Thanks for the advice.

Through research and slacking off at work i have discovered that the Netgear WG111 will NOT work with the 360. On a XBOX forum i ran across a post from a person that found that the Wireless bridges that just plug into the USB slot will not work because the XBOX is set up to get the signals for the internet through an ethernet port apprently. The person on the forum found that if you dont want to use the XBOX wireless you need on like the Netgear WGE111[b] which i suppose has a cord running out of the ethernet port then to the Netgear then wireless from there to the router. WGE111- http://www.netgear.com/products/details/WGE111.phpHowever, the XBOX one has a USB port to plug into the back so i dont know. I'll prob. end up with the Xbox one just because i dont want to mess around with not knowing for sure.
12/29/2005 4:30:21 PM
yea upon reading the forum, it appears that third party wifi adaptors aren't working. This is stupid. You can use a wifi->ethernet bridge nonetheless.
12/29/2005 4:32:18 PM
Sounds like Mircosoft already thought of people doing what we want to do and desided to make us go buy the Official XBOX one. Punks.
12/29/2005 4:39:38 PM
yea I think they use the wifi adaptor as a USB Ethernet connection sort of thing, whereas generic adapters create a new wireless connection.
12/29/2005 4:47:07 PM
I used the same adapter for 360 that i used on my regular xbox and it worked fine. and its not a microsoft brand. Just had to switch the same gateway addresses over and thats it!!!
12/29/2005 8:48:45 PM
faceplates are the gayest thing ever. i just kept the same white one on it.
12/29/2005 9:00:33 PM
