has anyone done more to destroy rock music?I mean besides being a worthless faggot pretty much every new shitty metal band these days is trying to copy limp bizkit
12/27/2005 9:26:26 PM
you could make a case that grunge killed rock music
12/27/2005 9:35:56 PM
^ that would get Game. Set. Match.
12/27/2005 9:37:37 PM
i love my emo.
12/27/2005 9:44:43 PM
emo has nothing to do with limp bizkit
12/27/2005 9:50:43 PM
exactly.[Edited on December 27, 2005 at 10:07 PM. Reason : john <3s me]
12/27/2005 10:06:28 PM
so the rock before grunge was what. . . shitty metal? gnr? if that's all they've got, they deserved to "die"
12/27/2005 10:17:22 PM
who sounds like LB?
12/27/2005 10:26:56 PM
you talk about destroying rock music, and then about new "shitty metal bands"? metal != rock.but anyway, none of the new shitty rock groups these days are trying to copy limp bizkit... limp bizkit was a pretty well-acknowledged fuckup, i thought. nowadays they're all pretty much generic combinations of Creed, Staind, and Nickelback. the music is bland, but I really can't stand that kind of vocal tone. not that Creed, Staind, and Nickelback are anything to write home about either, they've just been the most successful with it.
12/27/2005 10:50:37 PM
well acknowledged fuckups by who? im sure they sold an assload of records and have a large fanbase.[Edited on December 27, 2005 at 11:19 PM. Reason : far as im concerned that spells success to me.]
12/27/2005 11:19:23 PM
^^i guess i can sorta agree that maybe metal isn't "rock." but then what did grunge kill?
12/27/2005 11:26:12 PM
Grunge showed up to displace anything that might have evolved from stuff like Depeche Mode. Synth pop went underground, but I think it's gonna make a comeback.
12/27/2005 11:45:14 PM
it has made a comebackref: the killers/etc (rock with a keyboard)
12/27/2005 11:46:53 PM
grunge didn't kill rock. I don't see how you can even say that. Grunge produced some imitators, but it also produced some of the best bands to come out in last twenty years. It doesn't even matter if they're your cup of tea, but nirvana, soundgarden, pearl jam, alice in chains, STP, ect, are all great bands. compare those guys to what is popular today, or even five years ago and tell me you wouldn't rather have those guys topping the charts as opposed to nickelback or limp bizkit.
12/28/2005 8:56:55 AM
cuz no one from STP, soundgarden, nirvana (for starters) are still making popular (and good) music today.
12/28/2005 10:16:37 AM
^All of those bands you listed have people from them making music today:STP - Scott Wylan (SP?) is in Velvet RevolverSoundgarden - Chris Cornell is in AudioslaveNirvana - Dave Grohl is in Foo FightersVelvet Revolver, Audioslave, and Foo Fighters still make popular music... it may not be as popular as stupid Justin Timberlake shit or whatever, but it is a hell of a lot better then most stuff out there now.

grunge didn't kill rockit killed big guitar solos and monster stadium shows, and brought it down to song-writing and intimacy. it also made alot of kids look at the world differently, from party party party to everything just sucks so lets dress like janitors and wear flannel shirts around our waistsit changed it, but didn't kill it.
12/28/2005 1:07:17 PM
damn, i never said grunge killed rocki said you could make the case that grunge killed rock
12/28/2005 1:12:07 PM
yea i know what you're sayin.[Edited on December 28, 2005 at 1:13 PM. Reason : my bad.]
12/28/2005 1:13:27 PM
shiti still listen to "Nevermind" on the regular
12/28/2005 1:14:58 PM
That (hed) pe band really sucks.
12/28/2005 1:20:58 PM
i still listen to most nirvana, old pearl jam, mudhoney, sonic youth, meat puppets, all foo fighters, and lots of other bands that got popular around the grunge era
12/28/2005 1:48:27 PM
^same. throw nine inch nails in there as another killer 90's band and you have a handful of groups who will undoubtedly stand the test of time.
12/28/2005 1:59:15 PM
12/28/2005 4:55:09 PM
Who is Fred Durst?
12/28/2005 4:59:03 PM
Well it is hard to detect sarcasm when it is written on a message board, especially when 90% of the people are complete idiots (I'm not talking about you, but I'm sure you have talked to a few).
12/28/2005 6:44:29 PM
12/29/2005 12:49:56 AM
i've only been on tww for like 1.5 years but in those times i've seen more hate for creed, nickleback, limp bizkit, and lincoln park than i could have ever imagined
12/29/2005 1:20:36 AM
^There's a reason for that.At this point, I don't even think Gastonia would take Fred back.
12/29/2005 1:28:57 AM
^because they appeal to the highschool crowd, and i'm in college?
12/29/2005 2:44:13 AM
^because they're horrible
