12/27/2005 9:05:36 PM
god it's disgusting to see calipari do this wellyou know at least some of those players have been paidusually he just screws himself over by going for the sketchy recruits cause they bolt for the nba
12/27/2005 9:07:25 PM
held jj and morrison scoreless in the last 10 minutes of the gamestheyre a lock for the final four
12/27/2005 9:10:05 PM
12/27/2005 9:45:25 PM
lol gonzaga. they play the #4 team tough on the road with injuries galore lost to the #2 team on a buzzer beater and lose to the unbeaten #9 team on the road so they wont make the sweet 16 2 starters have been out most of the season
12/27/2005 9:50:54 PM
Don't use logic on TWW
12/27/2005 9:56:24 PM
Gonzaga is ranked around 10th every year and they bow out in the 2nd round. They haven't made the Sweet 16 since 2001 and yes I just looked it up. Overrated like usual.
12/27/2005 10:41:27 PM
^^^Because rankings always equate to NCAA Tournament success. They will play Wake Forest in the fictional non-NCAA tournament championship until they learn to play defense when they have to, and develop an offense when "give it to Morrison and cross your fingers" doesn't always work.
12/28/2005 1:54:39 AM
Making it to the Sweet 16 depends heavily on seeding for teams like them, so I wouldn't count them out until I see the bracket.
12/28/2005 2:09:15 AM
it doesnt take rankings to see that uconn and memphis are good. they wont be playing uconn memphis or washington or any team nearly as good as any of the teams theyve lost to in the 2nd round. this gonzaga team is complete and they also have morrison. no zag team has ever been this good. i doubt many teams can hang @ memphis without 2 key players. they will have hytvelt and knight back and will be pretty deep then.
12/28/2005 3:29:14 AM
^I agree. when you have a team like gonzaga, with a player as dominant as morrison, you're gonna hit the sweet 16. they're a lock. I don't see how you can argue with a team that holds the nation's best player.
12/28/2005 9:03:58 AM
that was a good game last nightAdam Morrison is a fucking beastnot to mention that he plays w/ type 1 diabeeeeeeetus

i wouldnt compare morrison of last year to morrison of the present day
12/28/2005 12:15:25 PM
no shit, thats a pretty lame comparisonhe is so much better this year
12/28/2005 12:41:07 PM
The years Gonzaga ran to the sweet sixteen and Elite Eight, they had excellent perimeter shooting and PG play. The last few years when they have had dominance inside, with Turiaf, they have struggled. Hopefully Morrison and Batista will make up for some lack of outside play. As for Memphis, they are fucking loaded with athletes, who are becoming better BBall players every game. They also may not lose another game this year so I think I will go ahead and say they are a lock for a 1 or 2 seed.[Edited on December 28, 2005 at 3:30 PM. Reason : .]
12/28/2005 3:30:20 PM
you know batista is a big man right? maybe you were saying he would get the inside outside going. raivio is in a slump after the injury but he is one of the better shooters in hte country. they will be fine.
12/28/2005 4:04:08 PM
the tim duncan wake forest team didnt' have a third of the athletes that gonzaga has. Not to mention it's easier to win against a team with a dominant big man than it is to win against a team with a big man that can go inside AND out. Gonzaga is a pretty complete team. they can hang with anybody in the nation. This year's team is better than any of the recent gonzaga teams that I've watched.
12/28/2005 4:12:33 PM
why don't we all just agree that once marcus williams comes back, everyone will be playing for 2nd
12/28/2005 4:17:29 PM
Yeah Yeah thats what i meant
12/28/2005 4:19:18 PM
The Tim Duncan comment was a specific rebuttal of the claim that having the nation's best player makes you a lock for the Sweet 16. The failure of that team was due to Dave Odom and Tony Rutland.Gonzaga's lack of NCAA success will because of it's lack of defense, not it's lack of athletes. A better comparison for their team would be Wake Forest of last year and the year before. Morrison may have an off game or be held in check by good defense, or he may score 40 and it not be enough. Either way Gonzaga will need to consistently play more efficient defense for them to go far in March.
12/28/2005 4:24:14 PM
^I'd agree with that. I guess I didn't really explain my first statement well enough. Gonzaga is what, like #9 in the nation? combine that with the best player in the nation and I don't see how people can doubt them for the sweet 16. you're right though, if a team can check morrison then they have a shot. I mean, last night, when morrison hit his thirty second point, gonzaga was up. then he goes like nine minutes without scoring and they lose. it could go either way, but when it comes tourney time, the big boys usually step up, and he seems like that kind of player.
12/28/2005 4:30:53 PM
the theme of this year is "wait till he gets back"kentuckys randolph morrisindianas dj whiteuconns marcus williamsdukes demarcus nelsongonzagas knight and hytvelt
12/28/2005 4:34:12 PM
true, but you can't deny the impact that each of those players is going to have when they do return
