I got a check from someone and deposited it. It bounced and the bank charged ME a fee. Do all banks do this? I think this is bullshit since I was not the one who wrote the check, I just deposited it.

typhicane... As a recent recipient of a bad check, let me assure you that you have many options. My bank only charged me a $5 return fee, but most charge more. It is illegal to bounce a check in north carolina. The Wake County DAs office has a 'Bad Checks' division that is created specifically to handle and prosecute bad check writers. If you can't get your money from this individual, and its worth a little time on your part, you can have them arrested and prosecuted if they do not pay you the bad check amount + $25 in bank fees. Message me if you have questions.

^Thanks, we got it sorted out. I just stopped by my bank and had them refund the 6.50. That was not the point though, just more upset that they would charge ME, not make the person who wrote it pay or charge THEIR bank.
