so i'm here in best western in arizona passing through on my way to vegas. they advertise wireless internet -- but the wireless is only in the lobby. i'm noticing throughout the night there are two types of people who walk in.wary drivers looking for somewhere to sleep -- 50% of the time they ask what time checkout is. 50% of the time they ask how much. some specific ethnic groups have tried to bargain down. if they have kids that came in or are in the car, they ask if there's cable.those who are hooking up with the person in the car -- they glance at me when they walk in wondering why i'm on a laptop. their first question is 90% of the time "do you have any rooms available?", and they always come in alone. they never ask when checkout time is.(ps, arizona is the second most boring state in the continental united states)

So, do the prices ever get haggled down?
what about the third type, that wander in, get on their laptop in the lobby, and just stare at people walking inhow many of those are there

^^^ that's not true - when i've gone on roadtrips, my first question has been "are there any rooms available" and hooking up was the last thing on my mindif you're on a trip, you don't give a fuck when checkout is, because you're gonna be on the road way before it could roll around anyway. And I might ask how much it costs after I know if there are any rooms available, but for the most part, I just want to get my ass to sleep and I've already decided that this class hotel is in my price range anyway.[Edited on December 24, 2005 at 1:32 AM.
