alright kiddo's im picking up this whole supertrapp discontinued exhaust system for 100 dollars shipped. as you can see in the pict there are some scrapes on the pipe but it doesnt appear to be dented. on a naked bike i see it as a big deal that the pipes look good. what would be the best way to get the light scrapes out? 600 grit?let me know what you all think would work best.thanksthis is the whole system up for grabs. any idea how to get the discoloration out of the pipes or is that there to stay? i dont mind the blue. i think the rest of the discoloation is just dirt. notice how he flipped the square bent pipe upside down so you dont see the scrapes. either way it's better than the pipe i have on there now even if i cant get the lil scrapes out.

brillo pad on a hand drill?

you dont have a chance in hell of getting the discoloration out. Its throughout the steel from being anealed(sp?) from high temps in the exhaust.about the only way you are going to get them looking new is to buff them super clean and get them chromed or plated.

gay, just throw that shit on and ride y0.there is some kind of polish or something out there though that's supposed to remove heat discoloration on headers. hot rod guys use it on their bling bling chromed out junk. may not work on unfinished stainless though.

there's no way in hell i'd coat stainless with chrome. fuck that. i have polished a discolored resonator before (cat-delete/test pipe) with Blue Magic polish and got it back to shine.... but i am not sure about stainless that gets as hot as a header...oh - you should consider Jet-Hot coating... ive got a $25 off coupon.... ^^^ and ^^^^have either of you used that stuff? Cause if it works, I'm going to buy a tub of it. Shit sucks when you have a nice showpiece you are welding and it get the bands from a fuckup on a weld.

ill bring it... you gotta ship it to them, they coat it, then they ship it back to you. I got my header coated on the civic, its been a year and a half since and no corrosion problems - although it turns a dull silver color after a while

cool cant wait how much would it run in all
12/22/2005 11:47:12 PM
you will have to email them. my 2 piece header was around $240, so im guessing that teh hawk header would be about half that. i would advise checking out the Jet-Hot website tho, and ill try to get a pic of my header up to show what it currently looks like compared to a newly coated piece
