is this supposed to be an ongoing thing, or are you just bragging about tennessee
12/21/2005 2:26:17 PM
^ oh, Tennessee is in there? Oh, they are indeed! I hadnt noticed.
12/21/2005 2:28:10 PM
Is this for real? How in the world is UNC ranked above us based solely on accomplishments THIS season?BS
12/21/2005 2:29:10 PM
yeah for real. BS.
12/21/2005 2:39:01 PM
we did lose to Iowa
12/21/2005 2:42:18 PM
man i hate comcast cable at my dad's
12/21/2005 2:45:54 PM
Wait, now that I think about it....did we actually FALL in the rankings from last week after a win?EDIT: No, on the AP poll we stayed #21 for two weeks in a row. It's because it's the AP poll, and since UNC is blasted all over the media, they automatically get a better hype than anyone.AP poll = gay.[Edited on December 21, 2005 at 2:51 PM. Reason : .]

UNC beat Kentucky on the road and almost knocked off Illinois. We lost to Iowa on the road and beat Notre Dame at a "neutral" site (really a Notre Dame home game though). The rest of our schedule has been pretty easy. I think UNC has more claim to a higher ranking. Doesn't mean shit anyway...
12/21/2005 2:54:39 PM
like rankings this early in the year mean jack
12/21/2005 2:56:12 PM
We've lost to Iowa(#25) they've lost to Illinios(#6) - they've beaten Kentucky (#19)I'd say their ranking is too high, but ahead of us isn't too much of a stretch, considering. How is Wake still there after losing to DePaul?
12/21/2005 2:56:26 PM
speaking of bullshit rankings, cbs sportsline has their own college bball rankings. this shit is rediculous. look for yourself: http://www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/polls/top25carolina #11?!?! wat the fuck is that?
12/21/2005 2:58:56 PM
Yeah, and Gonzaga is still in the top 12 with 2 losses.... NC State is conveniently omitted as well....
12/21/2005 3:07:50 PM
And to those saying it doesn't matter - it does seem to matter when seeding for the tournament - teams that are ranked high at the beginning of the season get more room to screw up and rebond than a team that is unranked, ie:one team starts at #10, another starts Unranked. Both have the same records (let's say 18-8), with similiar quality wins the two teams won't finish the season ranked the same. One will be a #3 seed and one will be a #5.
12/21/2005 3:13:26 PM
They may be a little higher than they deserve but UNC is not bad this season.Makes me feel uneasy about playing them.
12/21/2005 5:46:57 PM
there was really NO crowd at the notre dame game
12/21/2005 10:27:20 PM
well it is christmas break, what do you expect during this time of year?
12/21/2005 11:11:09 PM
except that game was 3 1/2 weeks ago
12/21/2005 11:16:38 PM

We'll see how much UNC butt the AP kisses next time. We should go up, they should go down. We shall see.
12/22/2005 11:06:27 PM
UNC moves to #6 next week we fall to #175
12/22/2005 11:12:58 PM
12/23/2005 12:57:37 AM
my guess is we are right outside the top 10...theres a chance we make 10 but highly doubtful
12/23/2005 1:01:52 AM
not a chance. we had a good road win, but nothing worthy of jumping 8 (or 11, depending on the poll) places.
12/23/2005 1:04:01 AM
i think we'll jump to somewhere in the 14-15 range, with unc jumping to #3
12/23/2005 1:08:02 AM
yeah we should be about 14-15ththe WVU game was awesome...I love that team. They are so well coached and run their offense so precisely...I hope they show up in the tourney again next year.Last year when they beat WF in triple overtime I was bouncin' off the walls...what a great, classic game that was.
12/23/2005 1:36:24 AM
NC STATEanyway, the polls are nuts. It's still way early in the season for anyone to have a feel for the top 25 teams and where they all belong. We'll see where all this goes in a month or 2
12/23/2005 1:43:26 AM
^^ thats' what we'll be at the end of the year... probably...
12/23/2005 6:06:51 AM

wow. The shaft that NC State gets is unbelievable.Had Carolina went TO ALABAMA and won, they'd up like 10 spots. We didn't move at all. AT ALL.BUT, had we lost, we'd probably drop out of the rankings while Alabama moved to like #20.
12/26/2005 2:07:03 PM
ahahawake's ranked higher than carolina
12/26/2005 2:07:44 PM
how'd maryland jump so high?[Edited on December 26, 2005 at 2:09 PM. Reason : nevermind]
12/26/2005 2:08:43 PM
oh, and UNC stays in the polls after a clobering @ USC
12/26/2005 2:08:46 PM
That was some of the worst carolina basketball I've ever witnessed. It was like the JV team showed up to play. Carolina would have been beaten by just about every team in the country playing they way they did on the road.
12/26/2005 2:19:56 PM
^I agree. Played a fairly weak USC team and lost by 15 and are still ranked. One good win and UNC is ranked. Wow and Kentucky is not the usual Kentucky this year.
12/26/2005 2:38:29 PM
bah, who cares about this top 25 bs anyways!

This thread is titled "AP Top 25"...you guys are discussing the ESPN Coaches poll....voted on by a bunch of guys that were either concentrating on their own teams last week or already checked out for Christmas.
12/26/2005 3:50:20 PM
AP poll is usually more biased towards UNC. It will be even worse.
