I have a Sweet Toyota Celica GT ('98), and it's black... and I'm learning how much of a pain in the ass it is to keep clean. I've also learned that turtle wax sucks ass cleaning off. Anyone else with a black paint job that has found some good products? Also what's a good product to make your tires slick black. None of the ones I've tried have lasted long. What about wheel cleaner? Hoping to find something I can spray and hose off if possible. Thanks!

I am not a fan of the green zymol paste - especially on black cars (my departed 540). The shininess level is very nice on flat surfaces but it leaves a very visible wax dust that clings to the random crevices on the car.The Meguiars 3 Step cleaner/polish/wax has impressed me for both the durability and end result. Make sure you get their wax-in-a-can rather than the paste-in-a-bottle. The 100% Carnuba is nearly essential on dark color cars to avoid dust and visible wax residue from my experience.[Edited on December 21, 2005 at 11:06 AM. Reason : asdf]

zaino is one of the best. its not really a wax, but an acrylic sealer. and its $money[Edited on December 21, 2005 at 11:43 AM. Reason : deep deep shine, tho.]

Try some Poorboy's Natty's Blue.. paste wax.. easiest application/ removal wax I've ever used (retail online about 12 bucks too). If you want OTC, either go for Zymol or NXT paste or liquid. Those go for around $13. Also, take a gander at Protect All's quick and easy wash.. just a bucket, a few MF's, a wash mitt and you've got a clean car with no hose or rinsing.

the 3 step Meguiars' process is ~$15 total - each bottle and the wax can were ~$5/ea. I think - though that is enough for 2 years worth of waxing (once per season - 8 waxes of the car total) if I remember correctly...

meguirs gold class is the shiznit, but you gotta have a clean damn surface to start with, i'd reccomend some 3-m perfect-it III to get rid of bug spots, water spots, scratches etc, then some good wax, and the best shit ever for tires is the meguirs silicone that comes in a bottle, you gotta squeeze it on an applicator to use it though, and its hard to find around here, advance back home has it.
