Just springs?
12/19/2005 10:56:36 PM
Should do struts at the same time. Lowering springs will wear out the stockers faster and then you'll pay for the same amout of labor twice. Which ones did you buy?
12/19/2005 11:19:20 PM
i bought the ones off ebay...AR racing but my struts are fine..and they are expensive to replace since i have the OZ sport package...
12/19/2005 11:35:01 PM
You got adjustable coilovers?Gonna take a lot to put them on. The stock spring perch has to be cut off the struts, and the new spring collar stop has to be welded on, if I'm not mistaken.Actually, they've got spacers to fit to stock? What kind of jungle rig is this?[Edited on December 19, 2005 at 11:38 PM. Reason : Huh?]
12/19/2005 11:36:52 PM
^I didnt have to do that for my 95 accord....unless that's a 99 Eclipse specific thing.
12/19/2005 11:39:04 PM
yea, they fit perfectly and no necessary cutting and welding is needed, iam sure of it..one of my freinds did it....but i just need someone to install it....
12/19/2005 11:42:01 PM
so i take it ur keepin the na shitter have fun blowing up ur stock struts.
12/19/2005 11:47:32 PM
i already bought them...btw whats an na shitter?
12/19/2005 11:53:23 PM
I would throw those away personally, but if you have a friend that bought the same ones and like how his car rides... then go ahead. I would ask that person how their struts held up though.Seriously, you are going to have your car ride on springs that you bought for $40 (for all 4????)? Did they just make 5 million kits for the eclipse and these are left over? The don't even specify what the springs rate are. Do you notice the difference in how these blue springs look and the ones pictured off to the side?
12/20/2005 12:08:24 AM
CAN someone install them on my car...or at least refer me somewhere?I saw these exact same ones at car-tunes and that radio place in cary for about 4 times the price, these ppl on ebay get them at a wholsale price and just sell them, i dont know the technicalities but GOD DAMMIT all i want is someone to install this shit in...
12/20/2005 12:21:23 AM
Yeah, I can.I do this kind of shit. But I don't do it for free.As I am trying to get my Teg torn down to start repairs, though, time is a little sketchy. My going labor rate is around 25-30 bucks an hour, though I usually bill a straight rate for struts/springs @ around 30-40 apiece, depending on the complexity. If you're interested, PM me.
12/20/2005 12:26:50 AM
have fun blowing up ur stock struts.
12/20/2005 12:28:17 AM
when it happens I'd put it in here just for you......just want to know...how the hell would i blow up my struts...also if i buy new ones then shitt thell mess up too...finally...a lot of cars on the road have lowered their cars...this is one method and i havent seen anyone bitch about it....just want to know your point of view...why and how...iam serious iam really not joking and iam not getting hostile..i just wanna know why?
12/20/2005 12:31:57 AM
You are correct. A lot of people have lowered their cars. I hope you like them.
12/20/2005 12:33:53 AM
i wanna do it for the grip and low ride feel and teh look if thats what you mean...[Edited on December 20, 2005 at 12:36 AM. Reason : ?]
12/20/2005 12:34:59 AM
Ok, first of all.....I put a similar setup on my old accord...they were cheapies from ebay.I did NOT blow up my struts.Second of all, you will not have "more grip"...not without a camber kit at least. your tires will be sitting at an obvious angle once you put these on. I did like the way my car handled though when it was lowered, but I attribute that to less body roll.
12/20/2005 12:41:47 AM
don't forget to get an alignment afterwards
12/20/2005 1:00:00 AM
more than likely, he wont be able to get it properly aligned if he drops it too much. He's prolly gonna need a camber kit.
12/20/2005 1:01:43 AM
why are you installing them on this car?
12/20/2005 1:54:49 AM
my advice is to replace the struts, you are going to regret it as soon as you lower it..especially if you are going to pay for labor. Before I lowered my altima I rode with a kid that just switched out the springs and it rode like shit. you are going to pay too much to have someone else install them.[Edited on December 20, 2005 at 3:24 AM. get the non-adjustable kyb struts. they're cheap and have been good on dsm's. also, sell those springs and get some eibach sportlines
12/20/2005 3:31:23 AM
I personally regret getting non-adjustable struts (I've got Tokico HP's along with Eibach Pro Kit progressive springs). They perform just fine, but they really beat the hell out of me when I'm driving to work on 40. Don't go cheap on this shit.
12/20/2005 11:27:39 AM
ill istall them, with suspension install i do free graphics install
12/20/2005 12:30:19 PM
i would say that the rears on those dsms arent really struts as much as they are shocks
12/20/2005 1:33:54 PM
pm sent
12/20/2005 1:50:31 PM
what a nigger ass piece off shit car this will turn out to bethough i cant say that im surprised, given the owner
12/20/2005 1:59:46 PM
agreed, thread need not continue
12/20/2005 6:17:28 PM
why are you wasting money on that piece of shit na eclipse???oh i got a good idea why dont you put a supra wing on this car too
12/20/2005 7:49:31 PM
eclipses are teh coolest
12/20/2005 7:58:52 PM
ill share the same bit of advice with you my pops shared with me when i did the first suspension on my car:'do it right the first time or pay for it twice'of course i didnt listennow im paying for it again and def doing it right, but again it could have been right the first time...the reason you would destroy your stock struts over time is the fact that they are not set up to handle the lowering, that will put undue stress on the strut and wear it out faster. then youll be back in here asking why it feels like youre driving on one of those blow up carnival moonwalks...[Edited on December 20, 2005 at 9:48 PM. lowered cars are the reason I get road rage.
12/20/2005 10:29:50 PM
ha my car is lowered, but you'd never know just by looking at it.
12/21/2005 2:21:31 AM
thanks guys...advice taken and pms answered...
12/21/2005 5:19:50 PM
oh god, dont dump money in your GS. Use it as a DD or sell it off and get a better car to upgrade and mod. find some cheap/used eibach sportlines. Would you trust the car if you just added some cheap nonbranded parts, specially for suspension?
12/21/2005 8:00:33 PM
no not really..but iam not gonna do much, just lowering, strut bars, and maybe just maybe an intake...then might put a turbo when i get some dough OR get a GSX later(as in a year or so)...depends on my mood.[Edited on December 22, 2005 at 11:40 PM. Reason : ..]
12/22/2005 11:39:28 PM
if you keep blowing your money on shitty parts it will take you awhile to afford the gsx
12/22/2005 11:44:21 PM
nickel and dime?
