I had a teacher do something like this in 6th grade.... she made us write a letter to ourselves (our dreams etc...) and then put it in a self addressed envelope. She said she would send it to us in the future.

My freshman year of college I got the letter in the mail....I had forgotten all about it, it was entertaining/funny to read anyway.
