Im trying to start doing video editingand transfering tapes to dvd'sI started out with and amd 2000, 750mb ram, 30gb 20gb hd's, but the quality wasnt good.Anyone have experience with this type of work, what do you recommend?Im wordering if there's a specialized machine that is better than a computer for both editing and burning to dvd's without an insane cost.

Um... Probably it has something to do with your digitizer -- the thing that converts the analog video/sound signal to a digital format. That computer should be fine really.

the quality has nothing to do with the performance of your computer,it has to do with the ability you have to encode thigs.and to do any video editing, you need a pretty pimp machine, otherwise its going to take forever and a day to do conversions.

Are you using Premiere?I wouldn't touch digital editing on a PC without Premiere, and I wouldn't touch digital editing on a Mac w/o FCP.

you'll want more like 2-4gb of ram, and might as well spring for the 75gb raptor.and yes you will definitely want premiere.

so what would be your minimum on processor speed?

dual core is a good thing to think about.

the processor isnt going to be as big a factor in editing. now if you get into post production with after effects, then the processor becomes a pretty big factor too.The one you picked out will be fine for editing
