I am currently with Alltel looking to switch to a better service. Any recommendations people?

cingular isn't bad if you're not picky. reasonable bills, good and/or cheap phone selection, and good coverage as far as i can tell.

never had to take them to the mat as far as disputes are concerned, they seem like the walmart of cell phone companies.

back in the day cingular did a $30 plan with free nights and weekends. and a free phone.

mine is a bit more expensive, but i have about 18 million rollover minutes saved up in case i'm called in for the Tookie Williams case. oh wait...

Cingular is awesome. 450 anytime and 5000 off-peak minutes with nationwide roaming for $35 a month. Not to mention rollover.

^^no, not that at all...i was going home for the summer and asked them if they could cut my phone off b/c i didnt get service out there where i lived...they didnt do it...and i told them that i wasnt paying them b/c i asked for deactivation of my account...

sounded reasonable to me, why pay them for three months when i cant even use the thing??

b/c they can rape you for the 200+ dissconnect fee. that's the thing. i once had to pay my deactivation fee. but since i went back. now i understand that two years is two years. once that's done you kind of control your own destiny, but until that point grab those ankles.

you folks don't understand that $200 is chump change for any company. They'll keep you as a customer if they seem some returns. If not, they'll gladly push you out.

i've never had a problem w/ alltel except for the fact that b.c they use CDMA networks i can not use all the new phones i have access to by working for sony ericsson

Go Verizon. Yeah, you might spend $5 more a month, but I had (and still have) Sprint (company phone). I get dropped calls at least every other conversation. It's fucking ridiculous. I hate Sprint.

Nah, I haven't had a problem with them. I'm not sure what other people have had problems with. That said, I'll be changing providers in May, just because.

Cingular isn't too bad.
I find that in the triangle area, i get much better coverage than my alltel friends.

Rocky Mount/WIlson it's opposite however, Alltel pwnts cingular out there.

My folks get a good deal and put me on their family plan, and i've never had problems although my mom has had to bitch at them a few times. Never enough problems to make us switch for the deal we get from them though.

Don't get suncom, had a coworker who had them and shit were they awful.

I've *heard* nextel is good and so is verizon, but cant comment personally.
