high pressure in the north has the cold air in place and this storm is a monster. should start as a mix then switch to alot of rain for us tommorow with rising temps from here on out. if only it was like 10 degrees cooler throughout the day

If it was cold, it would be ice anyway. This is Raleigh sadly, not Boston.

im not sure how deep the cold air is but if it was cold it would definately start as snow and alot of it, maybe changing to something else later (depending on how deep the warm air coming in with this thing got. but again i have no clue on how that is setting up for this situation.

lol we know snow. many of you probobly werent here but in 99? i think it was we got almost 2 feet of snow in one night and about 3 feet on the season; and in 2002? we got about 20 inches from 2 storms in 3 days. then of course we had the ice storm of the century in december of 02 and another big one in 04? not sure on those years but since then ill never doubt our chances of snow ever again. we were only expecting 7 inches tops the night we got almost 2 feet and wake got out of school early just because it was in the forecast.

freezing rain in the charlotte area right now. it's cold as balls outside right now and the rain is falling pretty steadily, as far as these things go. a steady drizzle that will probably leave me without power in the morning.

Everyone in Charlotte is all freaking out. All three of the entrance/exit ramps to the interstates I take to get to work were closed.

winter weather advisory just means watch out for a little winter weather but nothing serous. a winter storm warning means expect serious winter wather

I hope it switches from rain into snow easily in the mountains. My parents are driving back today
after graduation through western Virginia and West Virginia..I hope they made it back ok.

hope you're right, but is this just a shot in the dark, or do you have some source(s)?

^^^you must be high if you think you're gonna get 4 inches. Back to back 50 degree days before a chance of snow? LOL, you'll be lucky if anything sticks.

I wouldn't mind the snow, just not ice like yesterday. We have half a tree on a building in the backyard, and had a limb go through my neighbor's car windshield. Just bring some snow, and I'll be happy.

^ I agree, I'd rather have snow. I lost power for 26 hours (here in Greensboro) with the last bit of ice.
