Anyone know of a semi-inexpensive sealed, dust-proof, server cabinet? Looking for 8U-ish size.
Thanks.

Sealed and dust-proof? Where is this going, a medical room? Or are you looking for something enclosed?

8U is 8 1U slots.
It's going in an construction environment. I'm trying to keep dust out of the systems.
Something with a air-filter, like what is in your HVAC unit at home is fine.

hello ebay.

Seriously though, if someone doesn't check those filters once in a while best case they will be pissed when it shuts down or random errors, worst case server cooks itself.

^^
That's not "sealed" and dust-proof persay.

Hate to ask the obvious, but have you tried Googling it? I'm seeing a ton of results. If you are looking for super-cheap ... I would also see if any Surplus places have anything. Ebay will kill you on shipping.

Yeah, I've googled it. But everything is coming in as ~42U units which is way to big.

I'm wanting something small, 36" deep, and has some sort of filter or can easily be adapted to use a filter (like a house filter).

^ and yeah, e-bay is ridiculous on shipping.

we use cabinets similar to what you are looking for at work for elevator controllers, but then the small ones are like 40+U and up. WE even have a few that are the full sealed airtight nema 4 type, with an eternanal ac unit hanging on the side.

Cheapest thing I've seen now is about $1200.
If anyone has any links to surplus or something please share.

I might have to make one.

http://www.alliedelec.com/Search/ProductDetail.asp?SKU=736-3869&SEARCH=server+rack&ID=&DESC=CSR%2D8060

Also check http://www.presidentenclosures.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=PE&Category_Code=EB

They have wall mount server cabs for under 500 with a locking fotn and rear door, add a fan, a filter, and some selaent, and you are golden.

I'd suggest shooting a PM to garfus99. Being that he works with reselling computer equipment as his business, he might be able to help you out.
