In Raleighhttp://www.wral.com/news/5532271/detail.htmlI couldn't care less what people choose to call this time of year, nor what they wish to worship. I really don't care if someone puts up a sign. As long as they aren't tying me up and pushing me into a church and forcing me to believe something, I don't care. What's the deal with people getting so easily offended these days?PS - Anyone who wishes to let Amanda know that she doesn't have to let everything offend her and that the world isn't out to get here can reach her here:Robert & Amanda Alpert5313 Covey CtRaleigh, NC 27609-4157(919) 954-8026

that woman obviously doesnt have enough on her plate
12/14/2005 2:30:20 PM
The deal with people being so easily offended these days is that when people complain about stupid shit, we yield to them. So people complain more...
12/14/2005 2:30:57 PM
http://www.brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=372545i shouldnt have used the owners name as the title
12/14/2005 2:31:55 PM
they shouldn't have said, "jesus is the reason for the season" that actually is kind of offensive. But knowing this woman, she probably would've complained even if they'd just said, "merry christmas" so screw her.
12/14/2005 2:33:50 PM
its only offensive if you are looking to be offended
12/14/2005 2:37:08 PM
I am wondering when the backlash from all of this pussification of the US is going to coagulate.
12/14/2005 2:39:12 PM
that's not the right address... FYI.http://imaps.co.wake.nc.us/imaps/main.htm?msize=525
12/14/2005 2:41:06 PM
I'm not offended by it but I do find it humorous.
12/14/2005 2:45:53 PM
I find it funny someone had the gall to do it.I was thinking about going there for lunch today...i work on falls.the line was backed up AROUND the building and out of the parkinglot into the side road that goes by it.Jesus = $texas
12/14/2005 2:47:39 PM
^^^That's what whitepages.com gave me.anyway, I bet her husband hates her. what a whiny bitch.
12/14/2005 2:52:41 PM
WHEN WILL THIS MAD WOMAN'S WAR ON CHRISTMAS END?
12/14/2005 3:03:17 PM
Yeah, because everyone in this thread was ranting about her attack on Christmas and no one was talking about why people are so easily offended nowadays...
12/14/2005 4:01:41 PM
this is completely retarded, and it's JUST as stupid as people like o'reilly saying there's a "war on christmas" and saying they're offended when they DON'T see merry christmas.fuck this
12/14/2005 4:01:48 PM
Crux her
12/14/2005 4:02:57 PM
all of this has become so overblown.its a sign of how great our society actually is when we have to fight battles about christmas sign on mcdonaldsback in the day we had real causes like civil rights, suffrage, etc...all these activists with nothing worth agitating for.
12/14/2005 4:05:17 PM
i really hate people
12/14/2005 4:08:23 PM
some people just need to learn how to pick their battles. You can't go around throwing hissy fits at every sign that offends you and expect to have a respected argument. There is no war on CHristmas, and there is no war on Kwanza, or Chanuka, or any other holiday in December. The fucking McDonalds has a right to put whatever holiday message up that they want, religious or not. Nobody is making you eat there, or take the sign seriously. Fuck, I hate people.
12/14/2005 4:12:47 PM
so whats up with republicans making this such a big issue this year?that one dude on fox news even wrote a damn book on itwhy does the media always try to conjour(sp?) up stories like that, all they do is incite more public rage over a stupid topic cause people see newscasters devoting a ton of time to itgod its fucking gay

Those who can't find news, make up news.
12/14/2005 5:20:13 PM
okay okayback to the real question:have people always been big babies about issues like this or have they always existed and are now getting exposure in the media?
12/14/2005 5:27:37 PM
Uh... Jesus is the reason for the Christmas season.
12/14/2005 5:39:52 PM
^^ Yes and Yes.I'd imagine after seeing this "War on Christmas" crap all over the news, she felt a certain sense of empowerment that compelled her to act, whereas in past years she did not. What does this lady do when she drives down the street and sees a nativity scene? Does she stop and ask them to take it down? And you know her husband is pissed about this stupid shit.

12/14/2005 6:23:53 PM
Heh, what ever happened to freedom of speech in this country?
12/14/2005 9:32:48 PM
Uh... Jesus is the reason for the Christmas season.I mean what other reason is there? Some minor backwater holiday on the Jewish calendar? Surely not some psudo-religous African harvest festive that's only been around since the 60s? It's a christian holiday. Deal with it. Can I start bitching that I find atheisim offensive?
12/14/2005 9:43:59 PM
this season is more than the christmas season for a lot of people. sorry but that's the harsh reality.so yes, jesus is the reason for the christmas season, but not the reason for the season.or are you trying to say that jesus is the reason for hannuka?
12/14/2005 9:50:04 PM
Jesus is the reason Jewish kids get decent presents on Chanukah. And truth be told, if we could get even better lootWe'd kill him again.
12/14/2005 9:57:25 PM
just talked to my mom who is good friends with the owner and was with her tonightcnn has called, she is going to talk to them tomorrow. she has talked with the woman, who she said was extremely rude. carol (owner) asked her what she could do to make her happy. the only thing would be to take the sign down. the word "jesus" offends her. while there my mom said 20 people had come inside to thank carol, a person on behalf of a church came by with flowers, and a bus is coming from smithfield tomorrow. lall this from a merry christmas/ jesus is the reason for the season sign.

12/15/2005 12:08:08 AM
^Christmas traditions predate Jesus (Christmas trees, gifts, maybe even egg nog). The only thing Jesus has to do with Christmas is the word "Christ" and the fact that people attribute Jesus to Christmas.

12/15/2005 8:02:46 AM
oh come onas if the owner of this mcdonalds didn't put this sign up as a counter-shot in the "war on christmas"you'll NEVER convince me that he or she put it up innocently and was then surprised to get all the controversy.. and you're a goddamn fool if you think that.so, therefore, everyone's argument in defense of this sign is moot, because you've been defending a christmas sign. This wasn't a christmas sign. It was a deliberate counter-attack in the "war on christmas"
12/15/2005 8:08:09 AM
Her McDonald's.Her damn sign.More power to her for putting it up (it was a smart business move).
12/15/2005 8:20:00 AM
it's the ANTI-POLITICALLY CORRECT movement. it's about time.

12/15/2005 11:13:35 AM
theres an actual Billboard near my house that says "Jesus is the reason for the season" then at the bottom it has like 3 business names (1 is a car dealership). i thought it was pretty funny, but gettin offended enough to actually complain is retarded. it's not like McDonalds is a state owned business. thats like complaining that the sign in front of a church is offensive if it has the same thing written.BTW, this woman is probably fat.

12/15/2005 12:21:36 PM
i hate mcdonalds no matter what they have on their sign.and this is like a fight between two retarded kids.

Dear Amanda,Perhaps your ancestors should have given it more thought than just, "Hey, let's kill him!"Now he's a martyr and a central figure it one of the world's largest religions, and his birthday party is more fun and easier to pronounce than your holiday (yes, we're aware that you give gifts for 7 days. However, I imagine it takes about a week for a jew to convince themselves to give something away for free). Thanks

So, it seems that most people in this thread, regardless of their own religious preferences, all agree that this type of behavior is becoming more than an annoyance and could be interpreted as a desire for change. What can we do to stop this PC madness. Right now, we have only agreed that it sucks and are complaining that we don't like it. What type of action can we take to show that we are tired of people being whiny little bitches?
